Or a community manager would be brilliant, and many players would do it for free I would think. Lots of upstanding community members who are active.

I can give the example of global chat, which is now a much more harmonious place than it used to be because the mods are well-selected community members. Shows that this way brings benefits if done right, in my opinion.
Definitely feels like there is a significant disconnection between what you (Fizzer) want to do as a developer of this game, and what the community wants, as shown multiple times in the past, and now recently with the ladder changes, especially the boot time. Of course, you may or may not listen to them, but I think it would benefit the game a lot if you did a bit more than you do currently.
