why is it that i crush SE and ME (edit: middle earth not medium earth omg sry 4 confuse) and archipelago but am mediocre at larger maps?

in general, what does this indicate about someone's mindset and play style?

Also, 50% ish winrate on SE templates for clan wars is not crushing...

larger: most maps, ME landria inss maps etc

im competitive with top level players (edit: on templates like SECB) when i am really engaged, but thats only sometimes. i am in lazy frog clan, not op

my guess is because those maps have actual strategic depth unlike SE

tac, how 2 learn macro? i read the nghood guide. i definitely have a ways to go in practice viewing the board in those terms, mainly because they are kind of boring[citation needed], but i don't have much need to read it again. im not sure if this guide covers macro or just micro

Actually, I don't doubt it anymore, I now know it isn't true, since I checked.

Your strat 1v1 games in the recent clanwar seasons are absolutely "not" how someone who is competitive with top players plays.

You don't play vs top players often, so you likely don't realize, but there's tons of room left for improvement on ME, probably is the case for the other maps too.

French Brawl is the best way to learn smaller maps. It develops brawling skills, and picking doesn’t matter much. You can find it on clan war pretty often too. For learning bigger maps I guess Rise of Rome auto dist, but most ppl assume larger maps have more luck factor so they aren’t as competitive.

It is a steep learning curve but you can learn all sorts of things playing games and watching the top players’ games.

Tacky's just the kind of person that thinks it's better to be nice than to be honest. If he watched your games he'd know damn well you aren't a top player at strat 1v1. I certainly know the template well enough to make that call, and he knows it. The last person that suggested otherwise lost a few couple thousand coins before they disappeared and reappeared years later on an alt.

Technically there was a 4th, but they booted.

Picks are terrible in the first game, triple picked an inefficient bonus.

2nd game they picked a ftb + South Africa, for turn 2 11 income. They don't seem to get that inefficient bonuses should be left alone except in exceptionally rare circumstances. Also Central Russia + the ftb was a turn 2 12.

Game 3 that expansion is just super scuffed.

I'm not trying to hurt anyone's feelings. I'm usually among the first to offer helping people learn strat 1v1. But "not trying" isn't an excuse to pick or expand in such manners, it's auto-pilot once you understand the template. I play QM mindlessly 90% of the time, it does result in me making dumb errors occasionally (like forgetting where a wasteland is), but there's a difference between an oversight and a lack of understanding. Picking inefficient bonuses in 2 out of 3 games is more than "being lazy" or "half-assing" it. Same goes for blind countering with a lack of intel and slowing down your expansion severely as a result (the third game).

yeah what i am saying is that i deliberately play ineffectively most of the time bc reasons[1]. this is not the same as half of the ass, this is the whole goat
