Why would you vote for Rise of Rome? The whole point of Map of the Week is so that players find new maps. Rise of Rome is such an over-played map and everyone knows about it. That kind of defeats the whole point of Map of the Week.

Clement - I would say that the point is that players can easily find a repository of good maps. This does of course mean that for the first few weeks we will probably only see the most popular maps being voted on, but that effect will be reduced over the course of time. We should vote on which map we honestly believe to be the best map available form the choices presented. Why should Incaman not win the first official MOTW award due to the fact that his map is so good that that it is played to the point that you, personally, are sick of it?

Due to the mentioned voting behaviour, these maps of the week will basically be those maps, which are well known and already be favoured by the community... There will be no comparison at all and most likely the map with the best rating will win... wow that's incredibly usefull! =D

It's a long time until, but at the end of the year I suggest having a vote for Map of the year, from all the winners of Map of the Week. (maybe split it up (map of the spring etc, or in several brackets), as that'll be a lot of maps->but you get the point). Please tell me that will happen :p

Just an idea Fizzer, if the point of this voting is to popularize the great maps would be good reward for winner maps to get Auto Game slot for a week. So in every week would be a varied map of the week Auto Game next to the permanent Auto Game, wich indicate more plays on winner maps.

Where are the reviews? Did the usual forum trolling disappear (hence TBest)? Is there any point to this useless thread?

When you disagree with something it's usually good to give your opinion on what you are disagreeing exactly and maybe offer your opinion on how that would be improved...maybe.
It's your site Fizzer and you can do whatever you like with it....BUT at some point all public sites transition into more than that. You now have a responsibility to the people that have paid membership and have wasted their time into promoting and contributing to this site.
Your silence and avoidance of answer is just insulting...

I don't get it man. I've paid for the membership and contributed in other ways and I don't feel it was a waste of time at all. No more a waste than any other game I've bought. If anything I've gotten a better value for my money here than anywhere else if you consider how many hours of entertainment I've got out of it.
I also think it's too early to be judgmental about his presentation when we haven't even had the first winner yet.
What was good about the old thread? 1. Raising map awareness - It won't take that long to get past the common maps so then we will be back to raising awareness of other maps. If he does the auto game thing(not getting my hopes up) then that would really be an improvement.
2. reviews - There is no reason we can't still give reviews. I'd be happy to give reviews and I hope everyone else from the original thread does too. I also would like to see reviews from other people not involved in the original thread.
Anyway, I think we should give it a chance and contribute to the thread in a positive way. It is what we make of it so lets not hurl our feces at the walls just yet.

No offence Blortis, but this was not directed to you.
Not that you are forbidden to state your opinion, far from that, it is in fact very welcome.
I have addressed and requested an answer from Fizzer for the second time now and if he needs random participants to defend his position then be it.....I guess you will have to do.
Then again, maybe he doesn't think this is worth answering. I can understand that too.
