That is true. Make RT ladder using a page instead of Discord bot and maybe restringing it to work only at certain times might make the ladder work.

To be more precise, I meant using the CW games as data and building a ranking table based on them. No additional games would need to be played.

CW can only be played once per day at specific times and only by people in a clan, and instead of playing opponents with similar raiting you play clans with similar raiting, that's not how a ladder should work. And then there's Free wins and No Games, aswell as alot of boots in CW. So making a RT ladder from CW games would be difficult

I guess it is possible. There is indeed a lot of data and I thought of this idea some time ago, but there two issues:
- What would be the practical purpose of such a rating?
- There would be so much criticism from every side about the ranking algorithm, that it would discredit any idea of ranking. (Judging by all the rating discussions of other ladders/QM/etc here)

1. The purpose would be to create a skill-based RT ladder, something this game is missing completely.
Clan Wars and Clan League are two big events, but each has its own playerbase, at least at the top level there isn't as much overlap as there could be. You don't really see a lot of Masters, Pythons, LuFredds or ONEs participating in CW anymore. I am absolutely sure that a ladder like this would attract a noticable number of players to CW, myself included.

There have been attempts to resurrect the RT ladder by the community, but the unbeatable obstacle was always the lack of visibility/playerbase. Especially for RT you need a certain critical mass to ensure that people don't wait 2 hours to get a game.
Clan Wars is all the visibility and data we need.

2. I don't expect any serious criticism if the ladder implements pure ELO instead of reinventing a wheel. It is what MDL is based on, it is what the Discord-based RT ladder is based on, it is what much of the community is accustomed to.

There are people here who worked on community ladders, it's possible they have the whole Elo algorithm ready to copy-paste. Official Discord would be the best place to ask.

Ideally, there would be a global rating, as well as a rating for each template tracked separately, like what QM does, but this could be wishing for too much at once.

And yes I am aware that implementing it is much more work that writing suggestions on the forum like what I'm doing here. But I really think it would be huge for the community, and definitely more meaningful that QM ratings.

Not an issue. On the contrary, it's what allows WZ with its comparably small playerbase to reach the critical mass I mentioned. It would be harder to match people if you could join at any time of the day.

Indeed this is not helpful, but most people interested in competitive play are in some clan anyway, if you check the 1v1 ladder.

Not an issue if we use an Elo system, where matchmaking hardly matters. If you beat a much lower rated player, your rating increase will be low as well.

Free wins and no games would need to be ignored completely. Boots are present everywhere, including QM.
