It would have. History tells you: Try to control too many ethnicities, and you die.

Runaway inflation, war-based economy and complete reform of society to a more Germanic-like system. Wars in the eastern frontier would drain the Empire's resources, while barbarians and Slavic tribes would constantly barrage the Eastern border. After most of the Earth is colonized by Romans and Chinese, technological breakthroughs will occur more rapid than anything according to the modern timeline ( much like if Hitler's Reich survived and won the war ). By around the 13th century-ish, musket-rifle style technologies will be dominant in militaries. With their war machines and old-style tactics, war will eventually break out between the Chinese and the Romans due to the ever-increasing tensions. Whether the Chinese or the Romans win, the victor will be sole ruler of the Earth. Technology will advance even more rapidly, with an Industrial Revolution in the 15th Century and spaceflight by the 16th Century. By the 19th, Mars would experience its first outposts, the Moon would be colonized and exploited for resources. By the 20th, Mars would be terra-formed to become a 2nd Earth and would be rapidly and efficiently colonized. Humanity would expand out of the Solar System and begin its Star Empire. By the 21st, its likely they will have come into contact with other space societies or will own a great portion of the galaxy. By the 22nd, they'll inevitably control the entire Galaxy ( unless they come into contact with a collective of Galactic races ). After that, technology, culture, society, government and economy will be shifting and advancing so rapidly that even speculation is impossible. It's even likely we'll be conquered by an alien society before our galactic domination. Who knows.

Yea-no Genghis. The Romans did nothing but rape poor little childeren they found and turn them into warriors. If the Roman Empire never fell, heres what it would look like today: an empty ghost nation, stripped of all its resources, a population much much less than the modern territories, a country in the shadow of the shadow of its former self. But some good things would come out of this, for example, neither world wars would have happened, and the Americas would have much more foreign immigration. Africa would never have been colonised (or most of it, at least) and terrorists would not exist. But i am confused about how you included china in that. they were never in any position to attavk

Terrorist would exist. And the fact is no one can conquer the world. To much work to handle.

China was the dominant power in Asia, and a great manufacturing power around Rome's time ( Rome's history often takes up all the other interesting stuff from 200 BC - 500 AD ). Besides, you forget that this is ALTERNATIVE history. Potentially anything could happen. Skourby, your ignorance is not needed on this thread. You've caused enough damage to this forum. @Lucid It's easy to conquer the world. These days, however, you don't conquer it per se, you convince them that they are their own nation when from the shadows you pull the strings. Propaganda and puppet leaders, my friend. However, in Rome's times, technological advancements dictated the victors of wars, and Rome ( and China ) were much more advanced than the average Indigenous / " Barbarian " culture. I mean, if we followed Da Vinci's theories, we'd have a rocket launched by the 18th century. If we consider that possibility, then the possibility of spacefaring humans by the 18th century is not so intangible.

The Estonian United Parishes would eventually grow to Courland and wrap around the Baltic Coast, assimilating all Scythians and Finns to be Estonians. Later, Rome and Estonia would eventually meet around modernday Praha. Following a great war, Estonian elite legions proved to be know match for the centuries-outdated Roman battle tactics and overwelm them, culminating in the Estonian takeover of Rome. Following some rebellions, the assimilation would take hold, and Estonia could grow freely, easily conquering the coast of Africa and getting the fertile lands of the Mesopotamia. China would be expanding into Tocharian land, meanwhile, and most likely, Estonia and China would meet in Pakistan. Although China's military was better off, there would be a mutiny, like there has been many times before in China's history, and a general would join the Estonian cause, after which, Estonia would go all the way to Chongqing, Nanjing, Beijing or Shanghai (whichever was the capital at the time). Kuulsus Eestis!

Technically the Roman Empire didn't fall until Mehmett II blasted through the walls of Constantinople in 1453. If the Roman Empire never fell, there would never have been a split between Roman Catholicism and Orthodox Christianity, the entire empire would have been either orthodox or Roman Catholic. It is hard to say how technology would have advanced though. The Romans weren't too keen on new technology towards the fall of the western part of their empire around 400 AD. For example, it is said that a Roman craftsman presented the emperor with a cup made of glass. The craftsman threw the cup against the wall and to everyone's surprise, the impact had only dented it. The emperor then asked who else had knowledge of this invention. The craftsman replied, "no one." The emperor then had the man executed and flexible glass was lost to history.

On topic: This really depends on what you mean by "Never falls." do they Continue in their gluttonous ways, but repel invasion, and sustain strong leadership. Or do they never begin their descent. The Empire never splits, and Rome continues its expansion. I think the second is what you're aiming for here. Eventually, Rome will begin crossing into East Europe and Germany, and south across the Sahara. As they gather more peoples into their empire, they become ever stronger (The Excellent occupation skill of Roman Legions was one of the things that led them to their might.) Eventually, they are forced into direct contact with China. The possibility that expanding Rome has stopped the issue of the Mongols will lead to the now absolutely massive Roman empire engaging China, who tensions will obviously have arisen with. I predict we reach this point around 600-700 AD. At this point, Christianity will be a major religion across the globe, and Islam and Judaism will be extremely minor. Rome would defeat the Chinese in this conflict, simply from sheer size and strength. Rome would eventually cross the seas, probably around 1100, simply from the absence of the Dark Ages. The Native tribes of the Americas wouldn't stand a chance. Like Ghengis said, a vastly expedited technological system predicts ventures to space by the 18th or 19th century. This all assumes Rome has been able to support its growing population, but that's an assumption I think we can make. If they can last 1000 years, and we let them solve their problems, we can assume they last 1000 more.
