Do you prefer Auto or Manual picks in RT games?

I have been around for many years and have always noticed most players in the lobby play auto and not manual. Here's an image of what the lobby looks like right now. As you can see and honestly probably already know, most players definitely have a preference for autopicks.



I always preferred manual, but I see pros and cons to both and I enjoy playing both.

Pros to manual:
Gives players freedom to choose their spots.
Players can be experimental and be creative.
Can prevent teams from beginning with an unsalvagable position.

Pros to auto:
Lack of distribution phase speeds up the game!
Evens the playingfield for teams less experienced with picking.
Games may be less predictable, making them more fun.

I could be missing out on some things but I think both modes come with pros and cons so I can see why some prefer manual and some prefer auto. What do you prefer and why??

Most players use auto, it's the default when you create a game.
But for strategic templates always manual, regardless of RT or MD.

Do you prefer pizza with pineapple or pizza without pineapple?

Sorry but auto dist does not "even the playing field" :p

I usually detest auto dist, but it does lead to quicker games with less stakes. generally less fun though

I mean, using that as a pro already shows there are barely any.

Thats just wrong lmfao. It just randomizes it.
It doesnt even the playingfield, it just makes it completly random. A bad team could now get ontop of it a really bad Dist.
Yea we really needed to level the playingfield for the team thats already better.

Thats the truest of them, tho really having "teams less experienced with picking" does the same thing.

For a 1v1? Manual. Always. Not even a debate.

For a casual team game that I just join to kill time? Auto's fine.

The true solution is the combination of the two, where you have a picking stage but then you get random picks anyway. Everyone will be satisfied!

If I want to play a strategic game then I prefer manual, but therefore I like to have time to go through different options. (strategic = I want to win more likely)

If I am in a fast game I prefer mostly autodistribution or probs manual on small maps.

I see your point that autodistribution equals the board actually. Whereas an experienced picker nearly always picks better than an unexpirienced picker, the chances are equal in autodistribution for both to either get good, ok or bad picks.
