Python has decided that by default we won't be playing in Clan League this season - we don't have enough players that are excited to play, and it seems silly to have a bunch of us play out of obligation.

This would be sad, but before we officially decide to withdraw we're opening up our doors to any player that's Div B skill level* or better that's excited to play in Div A this season. We need about 3 players to fill our roster. We have a week left to submit our roster and so time is short. If you're interested then contact me, Falstaff, or alexclusive asap.

This would be a no pressure, no expectations, casual playing. Go for your favourite quadruple picks, do blind counters, anything goes. Even if we relegate that's fine.

Sry for this probably stupid question, but isnt there a whole clan of people who solely moved from knyte club to 101st just because of getting training with and eventually being allowed to play for python?
Either you are saying noone of 101st wants to join you anymore (why?) or that you prefer a duel BO11 winner over any 101st member (why?)...

otto, fair question:

101st is a sovereign clan in our eyes - and not a Python plaything, despite the common misconception. This is very short notice - until recently we thought we could put together a roster for Python. The 101st team wants to play in Div B, and I expect a bunch of them will promote to Python after this season. If 101st players joined Python now it would ruin their lineup, which would be unfair.

Sad day. I remember when Lynx was a clan of appropriately stuffy elitists, but they had the skill to back up that arrogant attitude. And outlaws was the slightly less stuffy, slightly less skilled (but still very good) antagonists to lynx.

Then apparently out of frustration of never winning clan league Lynx and Outlaws into Python merged to finally get over the hump. Only they didn't. Inexplicably FCC won a season, and then Master reclaimed their perpetual throne.

If Python dies it feels like a death of three clans. and maybe strat play itself. MTL is dead. The ladders have become idle quests. If CL doesn't motivate the strongest, well then it's over.

Sounds like this is more of a break than the end, but certainly not the end of Warzone or the competitive scene. The ladders are more active than ever!

Orcus, if that makes you feel better: The purpose of this thread (which is only a part of our approach) is to make sure we end up fielding a team and don't throw Python out of the competition for further seasons where motivation might be higher. We ended up in this spot because several key players decided not to play in the last few days, from an already not at all deep and motivated lineup.

The fact that it was pretty clear we won't be playing for the win next season wasn't good for the motivation and readiness to play, neither was the preceding move of some of our best players to Optimum or the very long MB visit of others.

We are all adults with other priorities, so instead of playing a blame game here, we want to field a lineup that fulfills the formal rules so we can restart our ambitions next season, even if that could be in division B. Casual season and then a season in B sounded better to us than restarting in D. Who says that fighting relegation isn't exciting!
