Have any of the good mapmakers considered making an Australian map?
We have a Victorian map and a very basic Australian map but perhaps we need better ones?

What do you mean with a better one?
More territories? cleaner borders?
If you have picture of Australia between 100-1000 territories I could make a map of Australia in the spring/summer this year. (now I want to finish my India map first)

Some bounderies would be needed to make a map.

Furthermore, I need names of the territories.
If you could find a picture with bounderies (Romania example) and names (your example) then a map would be easily made.

The map from here has all the regional governments, although I have no idea of the names.

The ABS has an online map which gives a range of different options for dividing australia into regions, going from the state level right down to groups of streets within suburbs, depending upon how detailed you wanted to take it - http://betaworks.abs.gov.au/betaworks/betaworks.nsf/projects/ASGSBoundariesOnline/frame.htm

ok, a map set to level 3 would be great. I can't use inkscape, but still... someone else could do it.

I think the reason why there are not many Australia maps is that it's hard to name the territory's in central Australia, those territory's are bigger then territory's bordering the sea as well.

What do you mean with 'better'? Please explain it clearer.

the only decent sized aussie maps are in Issander's Huge World and Pacific Ocean maps

Australia is like Egypt. There are large unpopulated areas and all the big cities are in one area and at the coasts. It just doesn't lead to a very balanced or strategic map. That's why no one really wants to attempt it.
