Local Deployment Question: 2015-02-04 18:15:34

Why can't there be overlapping bonuses for local deployment maps?

I'm guess this has something to do with knowing which bucket to take the armies out of, such as... take out of the superbonus or the regular bonus. But maybe this could be solved with some simple logic?

I've always wondered the same. I would understand logically where the armies would need to be deployed, I always assumed it was some kind of programming issue that couldn't be resolved.

Say a territory belongs to two bonuses, and you control both bonuses. In the deploy phase, if you click on that territory to deploy 1 army there, WarLight would have no way of knowing which bonus's army you're deploying there.

This could be resolved by popping up a question on deployment and asking which bonus you intend to deploy, but I think that would be annoying and I don't think it's a good user experience.

Or WarLight could just guess which bonus you want, but then it would need to provide UI to to move the allocations around in case it guessed wrong. This UI would be really tricky and confusing, and again I don't think it's a good user experience.

So basically it is a known "issue" that can be done BUT has very low priority, and probably never will happed

I would not mind to "to move the allocations around in case it guessed wrong"(remove a armie and deploy it first in a different territory in that bonus). And it will not be that confusing since we can see on the left side witch bonus it took the armie from.

Players that do not like it(too tricky and confusing) can choose not to play on those maps with Local Deployment.

All warlight/zone would have to do is always fill the smallest bonus first.

It would be best to force a multiple deployment slider (which will be henceforth and forevermore be known as "HankyPinky's Local Deployment Slider." I want the words "HankyPinky's Local Deployment Slider" to be seen every time it pops up, or at least "Hank's Slider" ;P). HankyPinky's Local Deployment Slider would have as many slider bars as bonuses that territory is in, each with the name of the bonus above them; the smallest bonus on top, largest on bottom. Clicking a territory would automatically put one army in the smallest bonus, and subsequent clicks would keep filling the smallest until it was full. Additional clicks would start filling the larger ones, on and on until all of them are full. The place to type in the exact number of armies you want would always default to the smallest bonus, too. For Hank's Slider, "smallest" means "fewest number of territories."

HankyPinky is right, priority to the normal bonuses and after that deploy the overloaped.

It would be no different than "anywhere" troops. If you place them in a bonus they only count as "anywhere" troops when your bonus quota is filled. The same mechanics could be applied to super bonus vs regular bonus troops. I'd love to see this implemented in an update so that I wouldn't need to edit bonuses every time I want to play an LD game.
