Anyone out there that does the IBDP?

I am a grade 11 IB student that started on the grade 11 program this year. The IB co-ordinator for my school says that we should make study groups with fellow students and online. I hope for this to be a study group thread for people who are working on IB. Past students who have completed the IB program are welcome to join in, and please contribute on this thread.

The subjects that I am doing this year are:
  • High-level Mathematics
  • Standard-level English
  • Standard-level Spanish
  • High-level Physics
  • Chemistry (unsure of level)
  • Business (unsure of level)

My strengths are in Mathematics and mathematical-related subjects, and my weakness is in writing. Anyone who wants help can ask me.

Yours in the IB,
John Smith

I used to be an IB student (if IB means what I think it means)...

A lot of bull in my esteemed opinion.

But then again I have just had a massive helping of HUMBLE PIE... so don't take my word for it.

I thought the IB program (also assuming it is what I think it is) was something you could only do in college.

I unfortunately am doing IB, and regret this.

However if you have any questions you can ask me. I am finishing IB this year.

Ok, first question.

Vital in statistics:

What is the effect called that states that the digit 1 is most likely to begin in any series of numbers?

Lord Veigar, no, it isn't. Well, not in Australia. The school I am in had a prep year for grade 10 and the two official years of grades 11 and 12. Some schools have the middle years program as well, (I think it is grade 7-10), and then I think there is a primary school version. I have only done the prep year and am starting grade 11 this year. Thomas, what about you?

There is a primary school version, both Eden Hills and Torrensville (my two primary schools) both had IB.

Bump

I am bumping this in case it becomes relevant in the future, or someone else wants to comment on this thread, instead of making a new thread.

John Smith, what part of the world are you completing the IB programs? I did a few certificates (math and physics) way back when I was in high school. I also scored high enough on the IB culmination tests to earn a few college credits. Again, this is way back when. These may be your best subjects, but I am more than happy to be a sound wall if you need any help and/or assistance. Similar to you, I am awful at English and history; that's why I completed certificated rather than the entire diploma program.

I'm completing it in Australia, and it doesn't matter where in the world it was completed, it should be close enough to the same. At the school I am completing it at, only one student has ever gotten a 7 in high-level math, and I hope to be the second. Thanks for your offer of help, I'll take you up if I need to.

I took IB for 1 year at my high school. It can be rough but it definitely helps with getting used to the college workload. If you don't think you can take all courses in IB then do IB courses in your strongest subject.
