Hi. I recently completed my first Sasc without spending any coins (apart from coins earned on the wheel). It took me almost one year.

Im curious: Who might be the record holder in the sense of having most super ascensions under their belt without buying/using any coins (apart from wheel coins)? And how long time did it take?

There's lots of other ways to get coins for free (like raffles in global chat, getting in top 9 of clan wars, ladder rewards, getting a top position in open tournaments, coin games). Do these free coins count as not buying coins?

I did not even consider those ways of earning coins, since I have not joined a clan yet. But yea, since they did not involve irl money, I guess they count same way as wheel coins

Global chat reminded me that Xeno has done so many SAs, that the longest part of his super ascension was selecting all the artifacts he wanted to carry over...

Perhaps this is a private thing to ask about, but did these players with so many super ascensions spend a lot of irl money to kickstart their progress, or did they do it they slow (and free) way?
Or, another way, has anyone completed say 20 sasc's without using irl money?

Well its important to note that each time you SA, you become faster and faster. So while the first SA might take years, the next one will only take months, and a couple more SA down the line you're down to days.

Eventually you get really good artifacts to help you over the slow overcome your lack of advancements. And also AP earning just goes a lot faster and faster, because it takes AP to get AP, so AP earnings increase exponentially over time.

If I wouldnt have quit idle 3 times since it was released, I might have been on my 20th SA already... (without spending a single cent on WZ).

I am at 10 SA. I do not have a Super Camp. I have never bought any package, coins, or membership. I am in Prime so I get coins that way, rewards, and clan requests. I don't really like classic so beyond Arena in idle levels and clan wars I don't do it.

I am not sure when Idle started. I would guess at least a year before I started playing it so I figure I could be at 30 SA if I had started on day one...

You also get coins by winning games. I got lifetime memeship without spending money.

Im saving up for the forever membership, Im close but not quite there yet.
Most coins come from CW, wheel and an odd number from ladders.

I heard Supers were easier when it started. Don't know if it is true
One thing that helps is to just give up on life. Life sucks anyways

After all the game gives you 2 hours to upgrade a hospital. Plenty of time to get a REM cycle in.

I'm on SA13 now and haven't put any real money into it yet. You need to realize that the utility of powers is heavily front loaded. In other words, they're much more useful early in your Idle career, as you get deeper and deeper into SAs they're less and less useful because you have better artifacts (and bigger AP boosts) to carry you through. I burned a whole lot of powers on SA1, but now the only powers I use are generally the daily door prize ones and one set of 5x SL per SA to get to Hex Earth (plus 2x IM per HE run).
