You can't get booted if you don't join games

I don't boot.
But I like real-world similarities of Auto-dist and random move order.
I'm still getting to know weighted random.
(multi-attack is something else... real-world-like, but so far away from Risk that I avoid it for all sorts of reasons...)

Auto dist is likely popular due to simplicity of not needing to pick territories.
But I'd imagine that random move order and weighted random are liked because of some uncertainty which isn't always game deciding unless you're a top player. Luck could have determined the outcome anyway, but not as much as starting picks and having chance to better know where opponents are.

Booting removes the luck brought upon those factors and takes advantage of making the game more favourable to whoever boots.
