How exactly does the Auto Artifact Swapper work?

Can anyone give a couple of examples to help explain it?

I want to understand it better before spending the money for it.

I want to know if it is worth it.

Its not worth it, imo (yet?)

It appears it might not be worth it for me.

I think that will be the case for the majority of players.

The pricing on most items on WZ seems to be set up so that a few players will pay a relatively high price for something, rather then a lot of people buying it for cheap. Which should net WZ roughly the same in the end.

Fizzer probably did some math and calculated that this was the right level of price for the supply and demand of this feature, possibly also taking into consideration that a higher price also makes an item more exclusive to own.
