A few months back I started a SCII thread. To my surprise not many people actually owned/played the game. In any case I'd like to advertise it to anyone, especially since it'd be fun to make a warlight group at least on EU server. Now, the reason I'm making this thread is the starter edition and spawning feature. First, starter edition is sort of a big demo version with not that many limitations, however spawning feature added to starter edition actually lets you get the full game experience if you are in a party with someone who owns the game, which basically means if you're buddies with someone who owns the game, you don't need to pay anything afaik.

I actually own HoTS, so on EU server if you want to try it out, download starter edition, play a bit and then we might try some warlight events in-game.

p.s. Did I mention that the arcade in SCII has hundreds of enjoyable extra games including the SCII real-time version of Risk on Europe map?

I have HOTS. I also have some 7 day trial codes if anybody wants to use those (limited to someone I know that will hopefully play in the future).

Sze - I haven't played much on normal ladder/games in a bit because none of my friends are playing. But I will if you can get together a small group to play once and a while. Right now, I play a lot of Hero Attack, a custom game on there that is really fun:

It is strategic in many ways (though different than a normal SC2 game). Your hero composition is huge, and there is tons of strategy in what items everyone gets to deal with the heroes against you.

Also, people can play on different servers (I am north american of course). You just get no points/awards from that, so you cannot play ladder games. You can play unranked matches though for sure, and custom games like Hero Attack. You just have to switch servers when logging in.

Only problem is that we play on different servers. First, groups are created only for one server, so you can start a NA group if there are enough people. 2nd, you actually can play on another server but there is a lot of lag (I played 2 games on NA ladder against plat players and lag was noticeable). Probably NA and KR servers are close enough for there to be little to no lag.

p.s. You get points for playing on different servers, but it's treated as a new account starting you at 0 and you can play ranked if you want with full version.

Did not know about lag issue, that sucks if true. When did you notice it? Right from start or as many units get on screen. Are you sure it wasn't someone who would just lag in general (bad connection/pc)?

Sad to see no chatter here. SC2 is a fantastic game, wish more of you were on it. Best thing is online play is free, unlike World of Warcraft and many other games/sites.

Yeah, anyone from Europe can friend me, I have the same nickname as here. Ideally we could form a small community in-game. Who knows, maybe among warlight players there are some SCII Master level players?

My screen name is ArtVandelay (just like my alt here). Anyone can friend me. But, I play custom game (Hero Attack) all the time, so I won't switch to another server unless it is prearranged.

When I used to play a lot, I was a Gold to Platinum level player. Right now I would probably be a Silver to Gold without any practice :)

I know many people that used to play a lot at work, and play WL as well. Trouble is they are consumed with console games right now. They are also all North American of course too.

i really suggested to try it. It's a fantastic game. Plus, if a friend owns the game, you can play ladder with him without need to buy the games :D

Not sure if the system changed, but you could go 3-2 to start out and get gold I think. it is MUCH harder to move up after being placed because you have to get near the top of your ladder 'division' (not sure if the name is right), then play a bunch from next highest (like platinum) and win a good amount to move up.

It really depends on matchups, because 5 games is too small a sample to place you on.
