A number of times I am in a realtime game, several turns in, outcome still unclear. People have to leave, occasionally.
Maybe there could be an option where everybody votes to 'save the game'. What I mean by this is that the game changes from real-time to multi day game.
Many games ended with boots and surrenders due to no option of this kind. 'Bad user experience!' :P
Has this been discussed before, is it able to be implemented?
is there a uservoice someone made for something like this?
thanks! Roshi

Don't have time, don't join RT games. It's not like MD games HAVE to be played as MD, can always be treated as RT

I mean sometimes something comes up in the middle of a game and someone has to leave (example). if you make it as a MD game that is much easier for people to exploit when theyr losing. They could just take really long turns to piss you off.
This option would need all players to vote. I guess it could also prove uselss if one player wants a cheap win, but from what I've seen it would work fine. :/
edit-
maybe it could put the game in stasis until the players decide to start playing again (choice of MD or RT). It could bring you back to the lobby and you decide what is happening then it starts from where you last saved :)
Not sure if something like this would work though...

Not only would you need everyone's agreement to save the game, you would need everyone's agreement to restore the game. Don't see that being practical

i like this idea. it only happens to me very rarely, but it has happened before. if you have a game full of good sports who don't want a good game to end just cause one person needs to leave this is a good solution.
when i play a game my concerns are playing as well as i can and having it be a fun competitive game. that's it. getting the points is secondary. climbing the ladder is secondary. winning the tournament is secondary. i do get disappointed when an opponent gets booted during a really solid game, cause i want to see if i can win that game using my brain and not the boot button.
it could be as easy as an extra button to vote to extend the boot time to 3 days for the rest of the game.

Chris, If such a transition was enabled can you imagine the number of complaints on the forums about holdouts not accepting a change? It would FLOOD the forums with a new round of blacklist demands for players just following the game rules.

Why not just VTE? It's much simpler.

I don't think this will be accepted, play multiday instead and treat it like real-time, and maybe play a clocked game in the future.

Ok, thanks for the opinions guys.
@Mercer that's a great idea, provided the boot time is big enough for you to take turns for 2 people.
Thanks for making that. I was busy. I'll vote for it
edit - I guess a game with fast boot time would finish quickly and not be affected by this problem as much, anyway :P
