So since the last Warzone update I've been struggling with wacthing ads for my 20% "army" bonus. If the ad I watch is for a game, on the completion of the ad, warzone or warzone idle closes and opens open google play. No bonus given. I have repeatly watch 3 or 4 ads in a row with no bonus at which point I just give up.

I'm guessing Fizzer is going to say it's a google promlem, but as of now it's costing him money because until this is resolved, I'm done watching ads if I get nothing from it.

You'll probably get a faster reply from Fizzer if you report it directly: Menu > Help > Contact > Report Bug

Tho as you suggested, its probably an issue with Google Play on your device, and not something in WZ's control.
