In football teams, most people are interested in playing football. In WZ clans, not everybody is interested in CW. Shockingly, only around 40 players out of 400 in Harmony are intested in CW. That is why the rest is still in Harmony, and not in other clans.

Hey I loved how it was. Why didn't you create a second clan wars event? The only thing that bothered me was the 40 player limit for new clans. You could have increased that. And the rewards could have been adjusted too. Big rewards for lots of wins, small rewards for few wins. And in general I would be in favor of bigger rewards. These ~100 coins every 4 weeks per player are peanuts. But otherwise it was perfect the way it was.
My opinion: Never change a running system

1. The “CW cap” (40) was equal to the “clan cap” (40, for capped clans) which meant that players who wanted to take a break from CW (birth of a child, exam season, vacation, illness, death in the family, whatever) had to leave the clan and rejoin or else the clan was shorthanded for the season.
2. Likewise, in either a capped or uncapped clan, a troll or alt account accidentally playing a game in a season would leave the clan shorthanded.
3. Partial days were ridiculous, especially since the most relevant timeslots in a partial day (slots #1 and #2) are at atrocious times for the vast majority of the WL population.
4. Many clans have players who simply aren’t interested in CW but are interested in being part of the community, in clan requests (Idle), Clan League, whatever. In a capped clan, clans are punished for this.
5. 40 is too many. Full stop. There are 3-4 clans capable of supporting this in perpetuity. The player base simply doesn’t support it.
Fizzer’s changes address all of these issues.

In addition, the changes open to door to players who might only have time to play 1 or 2 games a week.
Previously, an excellent player who can win 80% but only plays two games a week was “worth” 1.6 wins a week. In contrast, a mediocre player who wins 40% but plays six games a week was “worth” 2.4 wins. This is flipped now - clans are incentivized for both high volume and high quality play, leaving the door open to all players.

@thegreatleon. all valid points i agree with but imo these changes have less to do with balancing cw and more about eliminating mega clans otherwise why base points off total clan size and not members playing cw? there are many fixes to the issues you mentioned that would balance the game without penalizing uncapped clans.

+1 to personal rating instead of clan rating. It will improve match quality. +1 as well. I don't think it'll _ever_ happen, but it's the single biggest improvement that could be made. CW would be competitive again.
+1 to personal clan war rating. To be used in matchmaking. Check it on the testbed. If it improves matchmaking (deltaCwr) at de mínimus increase in no-games.

@old yeller: I don’t disagree at all - of course you’re right. The denominator should be players who played a CW game in the current season and not total clan members. Any benefit from the five points I described is completely overshadowed from this drawback.
I’m just responding to Romy’s post, not defending the boneheaded decision.

Any amount of players can play. At the end of season X players with best scores get counted towards final score. If X is 40, then top 40 players with most wins contribute towards clan total points and the rest will be ignored. Additionally clan cap can also be easily fixed. Fizzer can introduce +Y maximum player increase for Z amount of coins. For example it could be +50 clan size for 1000 coins. This way a clan can go from 50 to 100 and with additional purchases could go to bigger sizes as well. Fizzer could also introduce unlimited clans for a much higher amount of coins. No matter how big the clan size would be, only X of top players would count towards final score, just like I mentioned in first paragraph.
These suggestions address both clan cap and low activity players taking up precious spots. Under these changes if some random player shows up and only plays 1 game, his score most likely won't count towards final standings as there will be 25-40 other players with more wins.

I made simulations. Letting everybody play and counting only top n players at the end of season does NOT provide significant boost to performance to clans with very high player base.
