What would make live games funner if players could not play other games when in a live game. Waiting for players to take 2/3 minutes to make 3 moves gets old and sucks the fun out of what should a nice fast pace Live game. Food for thought CP.

I agree with the concern and proposed "maximum average time for a real-time turn" as an open seat prerequisite for games you create. The data for that is readily available and can be seen on profile pages for browser players.

But doesn't the "acceptable" time to take a turn depend on the kind of game you are playing?
Like, the time needed for a turn on a 3000-territory map with local deployment on is obviously longer than the time needed for a turn on small earth.
And someone who often plays 3000-territory local deployment could be very fast on small earth, but their average turn time would be high.

But the setting you are looking for already exists! The game already has a limit to how much time people can take for their turn: it's called the boot timer.
If you don't want to play against people who take 3 minutes for their turn... why not just set the boot timer at 2?

Think you missed the point. Timer needs to be sit so you have time to take your turn late game. Be so nice to play a 4 man game and every has to stay in game not jump to other games. The pace for a live game just be a lot nicer.

I think banked time could help with this. Set a very low timer (and no starting banked time) so people are forced to take their turn quickly in the early game; then set a relatively high "receive banked time" so they will have more time in later turns.

But I understand that's a bit fickly.

In the good old days when huge real-time games still existed it was :(
But I guess you're right those barely happen anymore.

That is not how banked time work Murk. Fizzer removed lots of settings somewhere around the time when Idle came out.

Huh, it's been a while since I used banked time, so I gave it a try and you are right!

The banked time you save up over turns can never go over the initial set banked time?
That's stupid. Then what is the point of it?

Oh well. I concede.
