I just did random things.

I did try to win at the beginning but I don't think my strategy made any sense, so I spent the rest of the game just trying to do whatever I can to hopefully turn it around, but nothing worked. :D

I'll give some general quick tips.

PICKS:
Always make the maximum picks possible. That will always be:
Number of Player (x) Number of picks you start with. For Example in your game that is:
2 x 3 = 6

In MME, there are a few things guaranteed. The easiest one to understand is that if you get your 6th pick (your last pick) you will *Always* lose your 4th and 5th pick (this is the case in games where the total number of picks are 6. This doesnt apply to games where you can make 8 picks)
Meaning (again in your example game) if you were to get your 6th pick (South Africa), your opponent will be in Antarctica (your 4th pick) and South America (Your 5th Pick).
In that sense, your 6th pick is good, as it counters them. Another strategy would be to put your 6th pick somewhere, where you havent made any picks yet. Because its the very last pick, you know where the opponent could be (anywhere where you picked), meaning if you put your last pick somewhere secluded, you also know your opponent wont be there.

Also, Note. Keep in mind that not all Bonuses have the same efficiency. Generally speaking, the higher the bonus value, the more efficient it is, but the harder to defend and the more costly to initially take it.
You can calculate the efficiency of a bonus by doing:
Bonus Value / BonusTerritories = Efficiency.
West China: 6 / 7 = 0.86
Central America: 3 / 4 = 0.75
South Africa: 3 / 5 = 0.6

GAMEPLAY:
Attacking Central America turn 1 is bad. Your opponent needs 2 turns to take it. So you want to attack it when he would theoreticly finish the bonus. That way he wastes as many units taking a bonus that you will counter. By moving in there turn 1 however, you are essentially showing him "Yea you cant take this", so he wont even waste units trying.

Now for the rest.. there is basicly a misstake everyturn which i wont go through it all.
Just make sure that any move you makes does one of the following
- Attacks an Enemy Bonus (that he is holding)
- Blocks the Enemy from taking a Bonus
- Defends your own bonus (or the path towards that bonus)
- Expands (In an area the opponent cannot break it)

Things you shouldnt do:
- Take Neutral for the sake of it (For each Neutral you take, you are wasting 2 units. 1 unit dies, and the other is stuck to never move again)
- Taking a bonus with the opponent right next to it (this mainly applies if the opponent either has a stack present that you cant defend against, or if he controls a double border against the bonus that you are taking)
- Dont expand into a bonus with a wasteland (You can check where wastelands were by going Game -> History in the bottom left corner)
- Dont attack with a smaller stack into a bigger stack (like you tried to attack him in Scandinavia with 9.. while he had 9 defenders??? like.. HUH?)
- Dont just.. not defend a bonus you broken from him (See turn 9 where your army decided to take Vacation in Brazil. Honestly this turn makes me think you wanted to lose, not win as i dont get where this thought is even supposed to come from)

GENERAL PRINCIPLE:
You generally want to try and keep track of the income of your opponent.
If you have more Income, you generally want to be more aggressive and attack stacks even if the trade is even. You basicly want to keep stack sizes low with an income advantage. The reason being that the higher the stack, the less relevant your income advantage will be.
If you have more income, you also want to trade Bonus. Lets say its 12 vs 14 (in income). Trading a +3 bonus with a +3 bonus is good if you are the playe with more income, as the % distribution increases in your favour. (aka, playing 9 vs 11 income is easier than 12 vs 14)
These Principles are obviously reversed, if you are the one with less Income.
