Hi. I usually play sp on saved templates with fixed team settings, 2v2 or 2v2v2, filled up with ais. Lately the ai strength is very diverse, but on the edges. Mostly my teammate got beaten very early, uses unreasonable, suicide moves, sometimes beats the ai alone, only the extremities, while the enemy ai looks more balanced. Is it something in the settings I dont realise, or this is normal?

The AI logic has not changed. But the default AI does use some randomness when determining its moves to keep it from being too predictable, so sometimes it will luck into better moves and sometimes luck into worse moves.

I think ‘unreasonable suicide moves’ is the standard. Because of that, AI vs AI can get one sided quickly as once overwhelmed, the AI falls apart. My guess is that is why you see the extremes for your teammate vs the enemy AI.

GiantFrog: AIs seem to favor expansion so much, that they prefer it over taking enemy territory Yes, thats it, even with bigger income allies favor expanding instead of fight or hold enemy back, which will result an early defeat to them. In this case a good starting location can be the worst for ally teammate.
Thanks all of you, so its normal, and not a setting I misclicked (like changing ai difficulty).
