My name is Bombus. I have been a long-time, low-skill player of Warlight/Warzone since I was young but never have had the time to commit to playing ranked matches or making maps full-time. I do have an unfinished project from several years ago that I have considered restarting and bringing to fruition if there is public interest in it. It was a map based off of Red Dead Redemption 2 and inspired by the original Red Dead Redemption map by Mudderducker with rail connections between population centers for fast travel. I am aware there is already a Red Dead Redemption 2 map made by Naholian but I wanted mine to be larger and feature more bonuses to make fast travel more useful. If there is enough interest in such a map I will be motivated to restart the project and find playtesters for it. If anyone wants to see my SVG file for the project as it is right now, ask me and I'll share my old test map with you. One change I wanted to make from my original project was to add Nuevo Paraiso to the southwest portion of the map, since it appears in the original Red Dead Redemption but is normally inaccessible in Red Dead Redemption 2. I'll also consider adding Guarma if there is interest in it.

Now that the map page shows statistics on each map, it's very clear that most maps don't get played on often.
Unless it's an exceptionally popular map and/or the strategic community makes a popular template on it, it'll get a few hundred plays at most. So I don't think you should get your motivation from "public interest". Public interest is going to be low by default.
Instead, probably best to look at your own interest. Will you enjoy making the map? And when it's finished, will you enjoy playing games on it? Will you enjoy making templates on it? If so, great, that's all the interest you need. And if not... well, if you are not interested in it, other people most likely won't be either.

Some map makers are open to being compensated (with coins or actual money) for creating a map on other player's behalf. You don't necessarily need to do it yourself.
Most players dont seem to notice forum. I think the mindset is "if you think it's cool, it is cool, so the map should be made". If you decide to make the map yourself, that's your choice. Likewise for if you want someone to make it on your behalf.

I wasn't planning on asking anyone else to make the map. I've made maps to play on by myself but this would be my first map I intend to publish, and so it would be the first one that would need playtesters. I figured I should ask the community if they had any requests for features or points of interest on the map since Red Dead Redemption 2 is a popular game.
