Why do not say something like "gg" oder "bg" when surrender.

If I check old 1v1 Ladder games for some reason - quite often, only then i get the points for the game. Since i play warlight i realise that stategic guys seldom greet in the beginning and do not often finish the game with some words.

Do you have an advantage in being rude or ignore you opponent?

most folks are here to play, not socialize ;) considering how many games they do per day, having to say gl hf and gg on all of them out of plain courtesy sometimes becomes boring. so they only end up doing it when it's someone they know or they feel particularly sociable. i don't think you should assume it as rudeness.

If you win a game, you will get the points. You just won't see the notice if you don't go back to the game, but you still will have gotten the points.

Pink is right, you always get the point right away. See https://www.warlight.net/points

I think "gg" in the end is fairly common used, but also remember that it means "good game". I don't say it if I am mad at myself for playing bad, or possible if template/opponent is so bad that the game never gets interesting. Some people may have higher standard for when they think the game was good. Saying gg in every game, no matter how bad, makes the gg completly meaningless IMO.

But since this post seems mostly about your concern that you don't get points: Don't worry, you do :)

If someone's going to get offended and angry that their opponent didn't say gg then they need thicker skin.

I really don't care if people say it or not. If someone says it to me, I will say it back. Or if I know the person I will say something more custom. But I don't care either way if someone says it really.

It's courtesy, like shaking hands after a baseball game. You do it whether the game was good, bad, or boring.

If someone impressed me I will usually compliment them on it beyond just saying good game.

i say bad game more often than i do say gg, there are some ridiculous settings or situations in which everyone should just vote to end, they may not do it, but the bad game will come... not that it means much

I usually say "gg", "" or "bg", depending on how I feel and how good the game was.

No points when being nice to your opponent... again your creative thoughts really surprise me, Doewolf. I like your Avatar however, but never really got your bio.

In ffa games or team games I sometimmes don't feel like saying "gg". Those are those ffa's where I crushed 1-2 opponents in a 1v1 battle just to get overrun by the third wo expanded freely. Or those low level team games where I lost due to my teammates playing at AI level.

If I believe I played decent and I still lost, I will almost always say gg. But when I lose to someone by a terrible move on my part, or by poor luck, I don't always feel like telling them gg. When I lose like that to someone I know well, I'll usually say bad game or something similar. Against someone I don't know, I just won't say anything. I guess it can be taken as rudeness; I've just never really thought about it before. I usually greet opponents, especially if I know them (I know 90%+ of players I play with nowadays).

I remember playing games with friends a long time ago. Then playing Chess and Go in my pub with foreign guys too. It was to spent some pleasant time together and to have some fun. It changed since playing online games ... if my partner is not sharing the same room - it often feels like playing against a AI.

To Win seems to be more important than to have some Fun.

DowWolf.... are you saying that have some fun is more important? To make the game more like an active discussion of ideas on strategy or whatever.... is more important? to build partnerships that can formed clans and escalate the fun to multiplayer level.... is more important? to be recognized by peers as a good player and a leader.... is more important?

I agreed with you

yes points get added.
