First of all, sorry if these ideas have already been proposed.
I think it would be handy if when you're looking through the list of games you can join, there be a box you can tick that shows just diplomacy games or leaves them out entirely, much like lotto games, this would mean that when creating a template there be a box that you can tick to set the template as a diplomacy game, just to make them easier to find instead of sifting through a few pages of games when you're only looking for diplomacy games.
Also if it were given its own category, this could mean that a system be implemented which allows you to actually send a formal letter to another player to request an alliance, peace treaty, or to declare war, this would mean that you don't have to sift through a mile of public chat to check to see whether somebody has declared war on you in your absence, it could instead send you a message upon entering the game which tells you "Player X requests an alliance/ player Z has declared war on Player Y", this would essentially mean that people wouldn't be able to ruin games by attacking without declaring war because they wouldn't be allowed to attack without there being a declaration, these setting could of course be altered by the host when creating the game so they can change it to their liking and if they so wish could turn it off completely but still have it set to a diplomacy game.
This system would also mean that when you're participating in dozens of diplo games at once, you don't have to go into a game and try to remember who's accepted your alliance, and checking to see who hasn't replied.
If anything isn't understood or needs clarity just say and again sorry if it's been said.

I think it's a great idea. is it possible to make a button "Surrender to X" to give X all your lands? If you have to go, you declare X your heir this way.

Only problem is people who play with friends may abuse it in order to give their friend a win, i.e if somebody goes into a game with their friends, one friend has basically won, but gifts all lands to his friend in order to get his level up, basically giving a massive boost to somebody who hasn't earned it

@Mighty, why do we need diplo games as practice games? If any game that does not follow the "standard" rules (by which Fizzer has not actually stated anything against creative game styles; in fact, he openly supports them) such as diplomacy games were to be banned, that would outlaw tons of games, such as lottery, zombie, role playing, etc. That many people enjoy. There is no reason these games would not be games in the eyes of Fizzer.

Mighty wasn't saying "ban diplo games." He was saying make them practice games, which is a good idea. Too often in diplos, players won't surrender because they want the points for winning such a large game. If all diplos were forced practice (IE, worth no XP points), then Draco's idea would also be more practical.

I suppose it would, perhaps upon making a template into a diplomacy it should take away all experience gain, then it wouldn't have to be labelled a practice game, because to me personally that makes it sound more negative. due to the connection i make between the word "practice" and not getting any experience.
