If you want free tutoring, just play real time team games with high open seat prerequisites. I'm not active enough anymore to devote my time to free tutoring now.

I'll do it free. However, you won't be able to get any higher than place 177 on the 1v1 ladder, presumably.

you should ask your opponents(only those who're high rated) after the game in ladders how you lost,i'm sure most will assist you or give you some tips

sometimes they feel like wth why are you making moves that make you lose!seems like you want to lose on purpose :P

but jokes apart, they'd suggest some very basic mistakes you make and you should work on the most common suggestions you get from the players

just few simple changes in the way you play could change your rating by 100s of points

eventually your rating will rise, and then again ask for what mistakes you made in the game, this time you'll get an answer which'll be more specific to a particular turn or the way you move your armies

after some time you'll get in the higher rated players category :)

Unfortunately, you're going to find it hard to get games with good players (other than ladder) with a 22% boot rate. Most of us put filters on the games we create to keep out players that just walk away from games. Most of us don't like to boot anyone - it's better for everyone if you surrender when the game is lost, and compliment the opponent (gg). But, if you're not going to hang around for the end of the game and be gracious, you won't even have the chance to ask those who defeated you to critique your game. Before you learn to play well, you should learn to respect the players that beat you.

a good way to improve your game, to some extent, is to watch some videos of good players. Kcscrags and mythonian have a lot of good material on their youtube channels. Once you learn the basics and some advanced move via these videos, you can start inviting the top 20 in the ladder to play some s1v1. That's what i did when i was a noob.

I wholeheartedly agree with 125ch209. Watch kcscrag's/Myth0nian's youtube streams (both 1v1 and 2v2 games as well as some FFAs in there) - they teach you a lot. The big advantage compared to just analyzing Ladder games is that they talk the whole time about the strategy and why they do the moves the way they wanna do them. I was a noob too till I watched basically all of their games (and still am).

Poseidonas, I've played with you a few games already (you were alias back then), most of them diplos. The truth is that you leave a lot of games and fail to apply a lot of simple tactics yet and I never saw you make good strategic moves on this games. Your problem is that yes you have a huge boot rate and bad ratings at 1v1/2v2 the most prestigious ones. You will get denied to play a lot of games, I for example put minimal boot rate at 10 percent for my games.

If you take me for example, you would think I've got not too bad stats, but I deny it, and I'm always trying to improve it. For example, I never get booted on purpose. Never. Most of my bootings were made by internet problems at fast real-time games or when I've made a trip to a place in south Chili were there's not even internet. I've also got a lot of defeats against high level players when I was noob (my rate was 30 percent back then), but I liked to play with these guys in order to improve. Every game I watched the history, found my mistakes, watched the opponent strategy and it worked. Plus I still do that now soo I can avoid making mistakes on my next games.

I've got a big set of strategies now, part of it with my history watching but also with research and some youtube videos. The truth is that not all strategies can be teached by other players or tutorials, most of it will come with 1v1 experience.

I try not to get booted on purpose either, My bootrate is high because i used to play Realtime games quite often (i dont as much now), to the best of my knowledge i haven't been booted from a game for quite some time.

Free Tutoring Tip

Pick who you believe to be the most successful players on the ladder. Which their games, paying particular detail to the how and when's of their play styles. See what their pick orders look like at the start of the game. I'd imagine you could learn more from watching 1-3 games than you could playing 500 against random people.
