I just got invited to a 1vs1 ladder game and a tourney game and got immediately forced joined to it.. as well as my opponents. Whats going on with that?

Same, same. Had that with a game on rt ladder and 2 tournament games as well.

Would be very appreciated if it can be fixed.. i like to join when i feel like it. Or when i know i dont have time for a few days wait for force join...

I have the "make noise when game is ready" On for real time games. I hear and then i know I have 5minutes to try and finish what im doing before being able to apply full attention to the ladder game. Now when I hear the noise i have to jump to it instantly, multi task, and play my match unprepared...

I think this is very bad for ladders.... but in tournaments it is good because then when inactive players it saves the tournament 100days.

I guess that is OK because you are supposed to take turns on ladder every 3 days and if you don't join, you actually get 6 days to make your first move.

It has annoyed me at times because I might have 3/5 of my games waiting on people to join and that can suck.

I think it's a good idea for the multi-day ladders, but I think it would be better if it didn't force-join immediately for the RT ladder.

For ladders maybe yes. But in tourneys its really bad. You cannot controll when you will be invited for your next match while you can leave ladder anytime. If i get a tourneygame when am really busy or bad connection for some days i rather have the choice to wait a few days while i finish some other games fast

For me it's a bit surprising - last update increased force join time in real-time ladder games to minimum 5 minutes. Now it's basically reduced to 0.

I get why it needs to be in tourneys though. I mean I have seen lots of them held up for LONG times because people are inactive.

I like the force join, except for in rt ladders. Maybe simply because I am less used to it, but now losing the boot since you were afk for 5 min is suddenly very possible. May I suggest that for the rt ladder, keep the instant join, but add 5 min to the banked boot. That would be a change I'd be a fan of.

Yeah, the update released earlier today added this. I always wondered why we needed to hit join on tournament games, and what the point was in "force-joining" when a player doesn't join for a few days.

How will this work with No luck games? normally the clock doesn't start until you enter the game.

I also don't like it for RT games because I like to look over the settings quick before joining

In no-luck games the "begin" button appears when both players have joined the game Chris, so it will work just as it has done before

it'll actually work better this way in no-luck games since earlier the one who joined last had an advantage over the one who had already joined in terms of picks
players used to not join games just for that small reason hoping for an advantage and it was just waste of time
i like this change too :)
also i'd like much better if there was a countdown voice that'll make us aware of the game starting in rt ladder rather than having just a beep sound

why?

the player who joins last can choose not to rush for 1st pick and go for 2 out of the first 3 picks
there was a thread regarding this issue by sze where he defeated ruthless basstard in small earth cause both of them knew it was better to get 2/3 or 1/3 or 1/2 than getting 1/4
so they basically dragged out the picks till just the autoboot was about to kick in and commited in the last second
but unfortunately for ruthless bastard he clicked on begin 2 mins after the game started since sze joined
and RB had no chance of clicking begin before sze since he cannot instantaneously know game started

their commiting times were about 6 mins for RB and about 8 mins for sze
and RB just had to accept defeat without having any chance of winning in the first place

Is it really a significant change though? The new force-join only applies to No-luck tourneys and in the situation you describe the one who clicks the "begin" button first gets an advantage if it's preferred to get #2,#3 pick and sure that is true... But it's the same as before, just that it happens instantly instead of after 3 days
