Unfortunately sometimes in teamgames your teammember is sleeping or whatever and gets booted. In most games, the territories of this member are lost, so the team gets a real disadvantage.
And sometimes a member surrenders, because he has to go to bed/work/friends.

In both cases I can imagine the control of the territories taken by this teammember is given to any (random or chosen) teammember. In this way, the team doesn't get (much) weaker. This makes the game much more fair play.

I do not mean another player gets all of his territories, but only gets control over it. (like he's 2 players at once) Else it can be an advantage if a teammember gives control to any other team member.

Agree completely.

It'd make the whole problem of having a teamate booted so much more bareable.

A new feature has just been put in where you can have Booted players turn into AI and also Surrendered players turn into AI. I know this isn't exactly what you're looking for, but it sure helps. Look for those settings when you make your next game.

I'm aware of these settings. But it isn't exactly what I'm looking for. AI is in most cases not exactly a good team member. It isn't weakening the team as much as losing a teammember, but still it makes the team weaker.

AI will only prolong the time to lose for its Team. The AI s deficiencies are too obvious:
- it does not defend territories
- it spends most of their income into getting new territory, has no real attack strategy
- it cant attack teammates in order to complete a bonus territory
- it tries to get neutral territory that teammates need to get bonus
- it cant airlift
- it cant transfer troops

and so on.

So an AI is like an extremly incapable teammate.

Coding an AI to act like a human is pretty near impossible (what strategies do you give it?) It would be sweet if the AI learned from every game that the WarLight community played with it. I just don't think Fizzer has the time to create a challenging AI structure.

There is this UserVoice item:
http://warlight.uservoice.com/forums/77051-warlight-features/suggestions/1271493-cleverer-ai?ref=title

but i just don't see it happening very soon.

Yes but coding an AI to recognise the bonuses importance for teamates really isn't too difficult. I find that the main problem for me, you agree to a border between you and your teamate, AI takes over, AI takes regions you need cutting your production.

*- it cant attack teammates in order to complete a bonus territory *
is a false point..

It can, and has attacked a territory to receive the complete bonus, as my partner, and on occassion when i look back on my insane challenge losses.. It's just not quick enough to make it competitive with human players especially midway through a game.

*- it cant transfer troops *
is another false point,

It can, and will transfer troops, have seen it happen as my partner, and again, had this issue when i was doing the insane challenge once cause they were transfering instead of building up at the abandons i had set-up.. just again, they aren't as good as a human player *could be.

Perrin ... maybe YOU saw it happen. I did not, believe me. Its not a reliable feature, so forget it. What lets me mention the most important point:

You cannot communicate with the AI

One might think that its much more difficult to implement communication than the other missing points. True and not true. If you would only implement a few command words that for example influence the aggressive or defensive behaviour of the AI, then this would be feasable. BUT: would it then not be much easier that one of the teammates replaces the other teammate that surrendered or was booted?

> You cannot communicate with the AI

I was thinking, could it be possible to just tell AI what it had to do? Like, you PM him "deploy 25 to Congo; attack Kenya with 25 from Congo", it answers "Okay" or something, sets these orders first, then forgets it and does whatever it wants to with the rest of its armies?

I'm not exactly experienced in that matter, but I'm pretty sure Warlight AI is not a real AI (or any kind of learning algorithm), it's just a (big) set of rules like "expand to get the bonus", "when you see an enemy attack him with everything", "when you don't see anybody take the closest bonus", "when you see big enemy stack defend with 1.5 * its size" etc., with some more or less clever conditions about when to make that happen. It would be much harder to make that set more aggressive or defensive, but enforcing some new ones shouldn't pose much of a problem.

(I never really wrote anything like that myself and I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure I have a point.)

Is it difficult to make a teammember player of 2 teams? If one member gets booted, it is replaced by one teammember, who has to do moves for 2 separate members.

Of course, what happens if the original player of this team member gets eliminated, does this member still make the moves for the second player, or is this then replaced by another team member (if available).
