I am close to getting five people to play in clan league is that enough?

Assuming that the number of templates doesn't change next season, 5 is exactly the minimum. You need 6 players in 1v1, 6 in 2v2, and 6 in 3v3 for a total of 18 players (but they don't have to be all different people).

Be careful, though. With a 5 member team, at least 3 of your players will be playing on 4 templates (if you decide to have 2 players playing on 3; if not, you've got 4 playing on 4 and 1 playing on 2).

I'm wondering how all the clans decide who's competing on what, especially for 2v2 and 3v3 templates where you want to fine-tune the teams and don't want your best possible team just split across 2/3 teams in the tournament (1v1 round robins aren't too tough to set up).

knyte depends on the clan - I suspect most clans just say "who wants to play which settings" and people put themselves forward. Clan league 7 isn't only about winning, if not you would have your best players for everything which would be boring for them and it wouldn't let the less experiences players have a go. It's more about enjoying yourselves playing against other players who are going to take it seriously and have a fun match on good settings.

Of course that doesn't mean all clans most or do do that, but most that care about winning the players are all good enough so that even if they spread evenly the effect would be minimal.

I think you need to look for people who would improve the most if they played _____ template. People that are going to actually practice and try to learn this template, and will end up at the end of the league much better at it. Clan League is mostly about improving each season against opponents that, hopefully, get harder. If you have someone who wants to play something, but won't dedicate themselves to practice/watch a lot of games on that template, then find someone who will imo.

Yeah, each clan approach may be different. We definitely have people play templates they are comfortable on, but we also include people who just want to play a format more (like Ver on 3v3 europe). We just pair them with someone who's played it enough to help them out.

But we have confidence in anyone we throw out there since we only take experienced players in our clan anyway.
