When senario's are made and the option "players chose start position" is on --> scenario settings will disappear! making normal distribution game which is not desired.
Can this bug be fixed?

I was wondering, which settings makes it possible for players to choose their slot OR random give a slot?

I don't know about that bug thing.

But, I do know a half-answer to your second question.

Sometimes, you'll see Diplomacy games that are set up like Team Games. If 1 player is on every team, this normally wouldn't make sense. HOWEVER, this is so that players can choose the team they want to join, and in effect they just got to choose what slot the want to be for the scenario. It's a clever trick, but it is tedious to add into your game.

Still, it's not precisely choosing your slot, for example, Diplomacy Games that have Teams as a feature, but some of the Teams DO have more than 1 player in them.

It's not a bug, that has always happened, just ensure Automatic Distribution is enabled ;)

Random teams, I'm still curious if it is possible to chose you slot in that game or not.
I would prefer to put a setting with a Random slot is that possible?

As Genghis said, if you set it up as a team game, were players can choose their team, you can efficiently choose starting spots when joining.

By setting it to random teams players are just put in a random spot. However this happens before the game starts and since you can see your letter it is possible to still choose slot by Declining, and rejoining until you get the desired slot.

Yeah, I used to join-decline lots of times until I received a good spot xD
