How many times have you joined a team game just to find out your teammate is a a complete immature troll?How many times have you joined a game only to have your teammate surrender before you have picked spawns because he likes people's reactions?

Many "mature" players are done with this. It ruins the experience especially for those who can only play a few games a day.

So does anybody think that we need dedicated servers for an adult age group?

Simply put, we would have regular warlight were you could play with all your friends and meet trolls and idiots but Fizer would also have a different server (with probably a lot less activity) that would be for "adults only".

It would simply be an option to verify with warlight your age (via the age you gave your email when you signed up for that) and then you would be let into the adult server if you were over 18.

Is this such a terrible idea?

Trolling has nothing to do with age. Sounds like you need to use better prereqs

I think trolling has everything to do with age. I happen to have very steep prerequisites. I won't even play with a player less than level 20 because half of them boot without asking.

Most trolls are in their late 20s or even 30s.

I'm 30, can confirm.

You'd be better off with some kind of voting system, where people can be voted off your "special server"

I believe Rogue wants a server where one doesn't encounter trolls in the first place. Since to blacklist a troll you have to be victim of their antics at-least once. However, I doubt any type of filter is troll proof.

Well there's your problem! You think levels actually mean something and are somehow equated to skill/ability. Couldn't be further from the truth. Levels are utterly pointless.

Instead, construct your prereqs around boot-rate (generally anyone above 10% is pretty useless) and number of games played/completed

facepalm. I don't allow level 1-20s to join my games because when people see that one low level person sitting on team B and a bunch of Mhunters in team A, they tend to shy away from the game. I, however, do have prerequisites based on games played. I still have never had a level 30 player boot at 3 minutes but it happens all the time when you let the rug rats that are level 1-20 in.

@Fleecemaster How can you confirm that trolls are that old? Do you interview them? And how do you know trolls of all people are going to be truthful? I would expect that if Trolls told you that they were inbetween 20-30 years old then they actually are around 7. I mean do you actually believe everything that trolls tell you?

Well that's a bit of a contradiction, how do you know all the immature trolls are under 18? There are trolls all ages. But they can easily be avoided by pre-requests. Use games played, game stats, boot rate not just levels.

May I point out there is currently no tracking of age? And, even if there was, it would be very easy to lie and claim you are older.

For the record, I have known some extremely successful, mature players on Warlight who are under 18. At least one of them is a prominent leader in the competitive clan community. To insult the work they have done here, borders on insanity.

which is not the same thing, but it provides a lot of evidence of real life.

And yes age imparts some maturity...

And life experience imparts some maturity...

but there are no guarantees... not even close.

However, there are different kinds of unwelcome behaviors...
not all of which I would lump into trolling, but okay...
and some can be avoided if you can avoid people under the age of 13, 16, 18, 21, etc...

And some kinds of unwelcome behaviors can be avoided by avoiding players / alts with nothing to lose... such as level 1 players.

And some kinds of unwelcome behaviors can be avoided by using smart prereqs, checking settings, player profiles, clan pages, etc...

And some kinds of unwelcome behaviors will become more common with the players that you have left...

Im not a troll and Ill boot without asking everytime, whether its my teammate or not. If you're going to make everyone else wait, when there is a specified boot time then you deserve to be booted.

Just create a clan and be restrictive about the sorts of people you let in. It's also pretty easy to filter by clan- the WL search function lets you search only for members of a clan by typing in the name of the clan, at least in the Friends section.

Servers cost thousands, so if you wanted this to happen, you'd need to earn thousands more. Alternately, the benefit would have to be equivalent to a thousand.

^ Yeah, I don't think OP understood what a "server" is. There's no need for a dedicated server to manage an "adults-only" section of the website, just like there's no need for a separate server to manage a clan.

They wouldn't need to buy more of them, they would just repurpose a few of the current ones.

As for age, most countries don't allow young people to drive or to drink alcohol or to vote. Why? To ban the young people who are generally immature and stupid from having too much power. Our governments for the most part don't care about the few good young people out there that would use these things responsibly. The governments still ban all the young people from certain things because it is widely accpeted that there are far more irresponsible, immature, and clueless adolescents (and younger) out there than there are responsible, mature, and half witted adolescents (and younger).

I really don't know why everybody is so opposed to a bunch of adults going and playing on a different website and not bothering anybody. Its not like we would do anything that would harm you. It seems like the trolls just don't want people to leave this website and go to an adults only (verified through facebook) warlight because then they wouldn't have anybody to troll. Let me remind you again. This isn't a huge policy change to warlight. Everything on the original website would operate as usual. Its just that there would be another place for adult players to go which really has no downsides to it.
