For those who don't know, the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) is a free-trade agreement in negotiation between several countries bordering the Pacific. Including the U.S, Australia, and New Zealand (+Many others). It's gotten quite controversial, due to concerns about labor,internet privacy,and others. Recently President Obama got fast track permission from the U.S Congress, which gives him full negotiating authority that is going to make TPP a lot easier to pass on the American end.

Anyways, I don't really have a strong opinion on this yet, mostly due to not having enough information. Anybody here feel strongly one way or the other?

TTP is the pacific TTIP. Together with TISA they form a trinity of an attempt to destroy demcoracies, shift money and power towards the megacorporations and eventually carve the oligarchism in form of corporatism into stone, globally.

TTIP and TTP bring Investor-State Dispute Settlements (ISDS), prevent governments from changing laws without paying horredous sums to corporations, destroy social achievements that stand in the way of neoliberal free market ideology and lower health standards.

TISA will bring further privatization of public sectors such as water, education and public transportation, while it will make it impossible to reverse any process of privatazation.

It such an vile attempt against democracies and the social state, its almost comical. Anyone in his right mind should vote against it. Ah wait ... you cant vote against it, because you have no vote, its being negotiated by your country's elite in secrecy.

It's ironic, but I agree with everything you said here.

In addition, the whole fast track was a joke. A bunch of corporations simply bought the votes they needed. What shocks me the most is that President Obama is front running this. He's successfully turned his back on his own party and nearly ever section of the Democrat voting base.

It's probably a part of Obama's foreign policy. He's trying to build America's hard power without engaging in boots-on-the-ground military conflicts, and trade agreements (especially something as big as TTIP/TPP/TISA) are a huge part of that.
