I've just been back to the General forum after a while away and I've realized an alarming trend in resignations from the most legendary and senior of WarLight's players in the past few months.
In diplomacy games, which I'm a great fan of, when the "powers" have all surrendered, it is customary to vote to end the game.
I say we all vote to end WarLight if any more veterans resign... it'll he boring without any strategic players left.

no you see when a hero dies a new one rises to replace him or the world enters an era of villans it all depends on who's around to accept the challenge.
So if fate or the desires of a few will it so, new veteran strat players will rise or we enter a great troll era.
personally i prefer the latter.

Warlight is a fun game, for sure, but it does start to get boring when you attack a territory X times with X amounts of armies.
If Warlight is to survive, it must do some serious thinking on how to make games more pleasing for its players, as the game's true weakness is the lack of enthusiasm during games (from boots, votes, surrenders, loses, variety of maps being played (there are a ton of maps, not all are played), terrible partners, unfair teams, and the general state of the player before they log on).

Discussing argument of new players can turn to old ones, Warlight's old players will always be the ones who started their accounts during the first phases of the game. Players can gain experience, but like, what is fun of Warlight when there is no players of LVL 70 :I

but if it changes that much warlight will have strayed too far from what it originally was....oh wait i geuss it already with the massive political clan warfare that that litters the place

If Fizzer can do something to add more enthusiasm and keep older players, I would tell him this:

-Have map of the days
-Have competitions between clans with no true higher clans (Auto games which group clans based on stats)
-And my favorite, a stat board which updates. Some stats which can be 'number of boots on the website', a chart which shows which levels most players are, etc.

Good luck convincing the real legends that they need to VTE instead of surrender. If Gnuff loses, he surrenders. He's not gonna run around demanding people vote to end. Same with sze. Apex. GG. A loss is a loss, and a win is a win. The professionals accept this as truth, and do not argue over whether one should surrender or take a draw.

Edit: but if you want to win this political fight, I'd recommend targeting the 2v2 ladder. Tell all the top ten that they should VTE instead of surrendering. I wish you the best of luck. ;)

Risk Taker, such trivialities only appeal to new players. The old guard recognize how insignificant and pointless such things are.

^ He means Vote to End Warlight, end the website, which I find ridiculous.

Older players would not care at all for Map of the Day, most of them hate Map of the Week as it is. There already is a clan competition, clan league.

most of the old guard played more multi-day games then real-time games anyways.. and tended to stick to playing with the old guard, and rarely a new player..
Warlight has more focus on RT games lately, because the new crowd is impatient.. many of the Old guard have left.. but that's bound to happen after years.. some come back from time to time, quite a few still play games from time to time..

Old Guard are the ones that have no problem waiting 70 days on a game because one of them hasn't moved.. because a boot to win is worse than a loss..
