True, the map is very symmetric and completely balanced. But that also makes it awfully boring. There's not much room for strategy--there are only 1 or 2 reasonable options at any point in time. So, w/ AIs, it's totally boring. And w/ human opponents, it's really a big stalemate (and lots of luck).
Good maps give a small advantage here, and a small disadvantage there. The human player then has to make strategic and tactical choices about how to balance those. This is totally lacking here.

Great geometric map. Makes every fight fair with good early expansion. I like to use wastelands, so the map plays slightly different each time.

2/5. I don't get too excited about geometric shapes. But if you think geometrically balanced snowflakes (or shapes in general) make for great battlefields, then this would be a 4/5 or 5/5.
