Description

Hi everyone, this is a world map including territories of both land and ocean, as well as three choke points: Panama, Suez and Singapore.

Introduction of 4 Territory Types

1.Land
Mostly habitable or densely populated places, they act like normal warlight territories.Bonus usually worth (territory amout -1) armies, and become more efficient when unified a superbonus.

2.Inland
These are valuable places surrounded by wastelands, offering transportation though the interior world.Bonus worth (territory amout -1) armies and with no superbonuses.

3.Port
Normal situation in this map, armies on land aren't able to access ocean or cross channels without a port .Ports can be islands, straits, river estuaries, peninsulas or just ports.Bonuses are formed by a bunch of scattered territories which shares the same trade zone.

4.Ocean
These territories form shipping routes, offering transportation across open waters.Bonus worth (territory amout -2) armies (but overlap) and become more efficient when unified a superbonus.

Great map - great concept. I've often smirked at a territory in the middle of the Sahara possessing the same economic value as say, New York or London.

Just a one thought: Your explanations in the bottom boxes on the map put a "-" before the value of the bonus, which makes it look like a negative bonus. This is just a little bit confusing.

Great map !

I like the style, the balance, the concept, the size (big but playable), the attention to details.

The idea of chokepoints is pretty cool as controlling one gives a big bonus over the game but is kind of hard with so many possible entries.

Take your time understanding the concept behind the different boni before playing it as the four types (land, naval, ports, chokepoints) have a different (and cool) way of functionning.

I really like it, congratulations muligan !

A very refreshing and polished world map. The concept is very cleverly thought out and the art is very effective to show the different kinds of bonuses. Pretty and functional. You made good choices selecting the fertile/relevant land. My only gripe is that the minimaps take away from the balance by making those strategic positions similar in importance to whole continents. They are interesting but for me, the map would be an all-time favorite without those strategic minimaps.

Awesome map. I really like the balance between naval and land portions and those land portions not being giant blobs of territories.

One thought: You did include every major sea route except for the Arctic Sea. Maybe you could include it as well.

VERY nice map!
I like the fast ocean lanes, the unpopulated/little value areas just crossed by routes, and the overall feeling of the map. I do not understand the "chockepoint" term for the three zommed in areas which are actually the opposite of chokepoints: if you want to cross panama canal with a fleet it takes almost twice as much as to cross the whole Pacific ocean!
Last note: in the tree player scenario, I have the impression that Panama is slightly advantaged due to the vicinity of many fast ocean routes. But it's a very minor issue! 5/5!

This map is ideal for colonisation diplos, which I hosts and has been going relatively successful. I feel that a combination of this map with the map 'The World [1.3k]' would create an ideal map as this map is rather simple and more territories and land coverage would enhance this map. Good job!

Very well thought out board. Best played with more than 6 participants though.

A little to much focus on the Canals and Singapore, but otherwise fantastic!

I favour this map, however the canals and Singapore really broke the balance of the map. Removing that, this map could be worth 5 stars.

Map is very unbalanced and not strategic at all, since it all matters where you spawn.
