Description

Diplomacy World Huge is my 16th published map. It's designed for diplomacy games and various roleplay uses. The map is based on World Nations 2012 by {rp} pedrito.

Date map started: 4/4/2014
Date map published: 9/5/2016

The old version had around 2348 territories but has been reduced to 1476 to comply with the new warzone policy.
Version 2.1 changelog:
- added 12 new provinces and removed 2
- added Gwadar port as part of China to represent the geopolitical situation
- fixed missing connections
- The Himalayas are now impassible

Every territory has its own bonus that can range from 1 to 60. Because of the sheer map size, the bonusses are not clickable. They're represented with a number within the territories instead.

There's a ginormous amount of effort that has gone into this map. I appreciate almost every bit of it, but I can't get over the fact that Scotland as a whole is worth less than almost all the African countries. Like, what? Scotland is fantastic! Alba gu bràth!

Scotland is as relevant as a piccle

All black isn't my cup of tea, but whatever. Anyways, here are some connection things I noticed.

Missing connections
Boa Vista - Amazonas (Venezuela)
Pursat - Chonburi (Cambodia)

Missing Sea Connection Lines
Baffin Island - Bylot Island
Prince Of Wales and Somerset Island - Elizabeth Islands

Thanks for your review. I heard a lot of people saying the same about my usage of the color black but I personally like it because it's professional

Thanks again for your help with remarking some of the missing connections. I'll fix them soon. The missing sea connection lines you mentioned, however, are already present on the map

Firstly, I would like to say I really enjoy the size of this map and shall enjoy many games on it. The Poland Ball humor is amusing and adds some decent artwork.

Really not a fan of how the casual bonuses are executed. Concept is interesting as well as space saving(The main reason you've done it no doubt) however they are rather small and kind of annoying. Editing the individual bonuses will prove confusing as you have mentioned.

If I had to change anything I would have added more color as well as change how the casual bonuses were executed. But overall a nice map.

Thank you for the compliment you made my day. As you've noticed this map , big in bonusses can't provide a tiny sized bonus box for all of its 2717 bonusses. It is impractable since space is limited. An alternative has already been made a year ago by resizing the bonusses below the size limit but it got quickly rejected by Fizzer because of bugs on the mobile app. After that happened, this was the best I could get. I also wished it was better done but I unfortunately couldn't because of the strain requirements put on me. Perhaps you'd love the old version more

I love how the fact that even considering that there are only 1500 provinces, a lot of historical borders can be constructed using this map, somewhat similar to Hearts of Iron 4. I'm excited to make different World War scenarios!

Very good map for a Diplomacy game. The continents are linked very strategically to launch an invasion or connect with an ally.

Bonus-value numbers are too small to read. Otherwise, I’d really like this map.

The numbers representing the bonuses are inconsistent. Sometimes they're in a hexagon next to an island or edge, and sometimes they're just floating off in the ether nearby.
Having every territory have its own bonus is fine (obviously meant for a diplo) but the super bonus are hard to cipher. It's shocking that you wouldn't make the borders for these colored. All black is a huge waste, and makes the look monotonous. Speaking of borders, having clean borders is important (although it becomes pointless when said borders are all the same color,) and the borders overlap each other.
Over all it's an ok diplo map. It's large, which goes in it's favor, but doesn't do anything special. No new or interesting way to add to the diplo experience. It looks like it just wants to be 'THE' diplo map, which is fine, but it sits in a pool of similar diplo maps vying for that title

EDIT: regardless if it's on 'every diplomacy map' doesn't mean its smart. If saving space was vital, then the ball characters could easily be axed
Response by map creator Belgian Gentleman on 10/10/2017
The numbers are constitent and always next to the nearest territory. No idea why you say otherwise.

After all, the clear borders countries and regions have is just merely a design. It wasn't meant to be specifally colored in red, green, pink, blue or whatever. It is a matter of taste however whether you like various different colors on the map or not. But as for me I opted for having one single color only on the landmass because I thought it would make my map look more professional and more suited for diplomacy purposes. This black-pattern can be found on almost every other diplomacy map by the way. Besides the polandball art fills up the space a bit and only takes up 58kb of the total file size which is almost nothing.

4/5, perfect size, good distributions... bonuses being invisible basically destroys scenariomaking in this map, though. :(

EDIT: Scratch that, 5/5. Do full distribution local deployment 3 mins autoboot real-time games on this beauty. Autopilot every turn. Use the setting that blocks members from joining. Free points, period. :D
