Description

At the turn of the first millennium, Polynesian explorers are pushing the frontiers of humankind ever onwards.
Crossing the endless Pacific ocean, they settle far-flung Rapa Nui and Hawai’i, before turning their attention to mystical Aotearoa in the South.

Three great empires rule these seas: the Yapese Empire, Micronesian merchants carrying their giant stones across the waves; the Tui Manu’a Confederacy, the sacred cradle from which Polynesian culture sprang; and the expansionist Tu’i Tonga Empire, its warriors eating the Tui Manu’a from the inside out.

Today you can join them.
So don your te tana cuirass, grab your totokia, load your copra onto your drua - - and come conquer Te Moana!

I really like the 3-hex travel system. It's very fun, demands your attention, and really reduces the time needed to traverse the maps.

I did notice a couple of sea hexes that didn't connect to all points 3 tiles away, but I can't recall which ones they were. There is a broken connection in Papua New Guinea between the Madang and Ramu peoples. Finally, some of the single islands have broken or extra connections.

great map, altough the big thing that keeps me from rating this as perfect is the fact that the sea travel system makes it really difficult to end. I like the sea travel system, though; so I could imagine a solution to this being adding negative bonuses to all sea territories in the map, and raising the bonus values to balance this. I know that this is a big ask, and do not let it detract from the fact that this is an otherwise great map.

That's a fair point! The map isn't great for hunting down AI's (or humans that refuse to surrender). I'm not sure if either would be discouraged by negative bonuses, but it's an interesting suggestion to consider.

Fascinating concept. I'm not a huge fan of the way the sea travel works (with the three territories away thing) and it seems like there might be a bit too many sea tiles and not enough land, but other than that it's a very interesting map, I love the idea of a map of this region in this time period.
