Don't attack a territory so your armies can kill all enemy armies which are on the territory. Attack a territory so your armies can kill all enemy's armies which will be on the territory. You can deploy, so can enemy. Predicting how many troops enemy deploys on the given territory is usually very difficult, but there are few tricks which can help you: 1) Find enemy's income. In no fog scenarios, it is trivial. In scenarios where fog is on, check out game -> history and look up how many troops enemy deployed. This can give you an orientation about his income. If the map is small, you can guess which bonuses enemy has completed and hence know his income. Don't forget that reinforcement card can boost enemy's income for one turn. 2) Check out how many fronts enemy fights on. If the enemy fights your teammate too, he is likely to split his income in half between these fronts. 3) If a territory is important for an enemy (losing it would cause him to lose lots of income), he is more likely to deploy more troops in the territory than on territory not as important for him. In game -> analyse attack, you can check out how many troops you need to conquere a territory which is occipied by x armies. In this scenario, AIs will deploy their whole income in your front.
