Description

!! !! Alternate Future Warning !! !!

Even though an entire third of Ukraine fell to Russian hands, the Russians have failed to gain any concessions from the Kiev government nor their western allies. The Russians have long crossed multiple red lines, and now the majority of Europe has been mobilized into action. Russia, despite gaining land, has ceded way too much time, and it needs new allies quickly while depriving the Europeans of theirs.

And now the Ukrainians have formed a defensive line, complete with anti-aircraft missiles and copious amounts of artillery. Able to target Russia itself, and invite European forces to attack too. Only one thing can be done...

Side note: The Transnistria level can be done within 7 turns (I did it), and possibly 6.

From Part II:
It is unclear who actually started the war, but a war could have been predicted due to the assembly of troops from both Russia and Ukraine on their mutual border. After assembling, however, Russian military bases were attacked by missiles of some point. This event gave the Russian military the opportunity to rush in and destroy any resistance between Donetsk and the Dnieper, as the Ukrainian military had not been prepared. Russia made a series of demands to Ukraine, but the Ukrainians quickly rejected, as they believed that their sovereignty would disappear if accepted.

Thus, the war continues.

From Part I:
Ukraine and Russia had been over odds over Crimea and the still-continuing conflict in the Donbass for years by this point, but that is soon to change. Both sides accuse each other of planning for war and, quickly, abandoning agreements they had signed in Minsk, and Russia had rapidly remilitarized the border to "defend against Ukrainian aggression". However, the worst is yet to come.
