Settings

Game creators can customize:

  • The number of different types of Dragon (one for each color).
  • The starting positions of Dragons.

Dragon settings

Game creators can customize each of the following for each type of Dragon:

  • Their name.
  • If they can be bought - requires commerce to be enabled (defaults to enabled).
    • Their cost, in Gold (defaults to 20, min 1, max 100).
    • The maximum number of units a player can have on their territories until no longer being allowed to buy any (defaults to 3, min 1, max 5).
  • If the Dragon Breath attack is enabled (defaults to enabled). This attack makes it so that when there normal attack order and the dragon survives attacking a territory, all armies on connecting territories of the now occupied territory have their armies reduced by Dragon Breath attack damage.
    • The damage the Dragon Breath attack does (defaults to 2, min 1, max 10).
  • All aspects of the unit created.

Setting starting positions for Dragons

  1. Go to Single Player.
  2. Change the map to the one that will be used for creating the actual game.
  3. Change mods and include this mod.
  4. Create the game. Do not play any turns or else placements will no longer be possible.
  5. Open Game > Mod: Dragons.
  6. For as many placements as desired, click "Place Dragon" and select territories and Dragon types. Each placement can be removed.
  7. Click "Get Data". Copy the text.
  8. Open Single Player or Multi-player, whichever is preferred or creating the actual game.
  9. Change the map to the same one as used in the single player game.
  10. Include this mod.
  11. Click "Set Dragon positions".
  12. Paste the text that was copied from "Get Data".
  13. Click "Return". The placement data will then be saved.

The owner of the Dragons will be set to whoever owns the territories at the that of the game. It is unclear what will happen if the territory owner is not an actual player or AI. While making placements, there is not a way to explicitly set the owner of a Dragon to a certain player.

Dragon placements are available under Game > Mod Dragons even during the actual game, regardless of fog levels or if a custom scenario was used.

Purchasing Dragons

To purchase a Dragon, go to Build > Dragons. Dragons can only be bought on territories the player wanting to buy one owns. Purchasing Dragons happens during the turn phase WL.TurnPhase.Deploys + 1, which is immediately after deployments but before Bomb Cards.

If at the time a purchase order is being processed, the type of dragon or the territory to create it on becomes none, it will not be created and the player will get their gold back. If at the time the purchase order is processed, the player has gone beyond the number units the limit enforces, it will not be created and the player will get their gold back. If at the time a purchase order is being processed, the cost in the settings becomes unequal to the in the order, the cost will be changed to the one in the settings. Territory ownership is not checked, though this may not be needed due to purchases happening during a set turn phase which is before gifts and regular attacks and transfers, however another mod could bypass this.
