I don't think you can call people gay as an insult anymore solely because it just isn't effective anymore. You call a guy gay and he will just say "yeah I get more guys than you do girls."
We are getting close to a golden age where we insult and belittle people based, not on the color of their skin or who they bang, on the content of their character.

I'm not sure it's an improvement, in fact it's probably worse, I don't care if people call me gay or whatever, but calling me stupid or something like that can be quite disconcerting...

To be fair, insults like "stupid" and "autistic" or "I bet you're saying this because your dad beat you" are also pretty questioanble- the former two because they're pretty blatantly ableist (criticizing someone for mental deficiencies), the latter because it's making fun of someone for experiencing domestic violence.

I'd rather just be told to "fuck off" or be attacked as a "jerk" or "fool" or something. Those still hurt, but at least they're not attacking people for things like having a mental disorder.

Insults are supposed to be offensive. That's the whole idea behind insulting someone. If the insult you use isn't somehow offensive to anyone than it's not an insult.

If you don't want anyone to be offended than just don't insult people. There's no way to sugar coat it.

It's not about being offensive. It's about not using oppressive speech. Insults based on race, class, gender, sex, sexual orientation, or disability aren't cool.

If you can't think of an insult that's not based on those qualities, then you need to stop being an unimaginative human shitstain.

When you're insulting someone you should want to scar them emotionally for a long time. If you don't want to do that then you shouldn't be insulting them. Unless you're just poking fun at them as if they're your friend.

I haven't ready everything on this thread because I think its pathetic that you need to get the community involved on something so trivial. You won, thats great. Let that be enough. Add the guy to your blacklist so that it doesn't happen again. Also it might be a good idea to set Prerequisites on your games.... That way you don't get noobs like this.

Actually the topic of this thread is how to cope with stressful situations and not to get angry and insult someone, in a situation like this when you care to win but your teammate just leaves without saying word.

Just FYI bro: I'm not white. I'm proud of myself, though. Graduated top of my class in high school, aced literally every single standardized exam I ever took, dominated at competitive debate, earned the respect of my peers, learned how to program (well), got into one of the top schools for my field of interest, and then earned people's respect here too. Oooh and now I can do crazy shit with hardware and am finally on the verge of understanding PCB design. Within a few years, I'll literally have the theoretical understanding and ability to build an Iron Man suit (sort of...).

That sure beats being proud of things I couldn't control. The thing I'm really proud of most is that I've got things I can cling to for pride other than race/religion/ethnicity/other things no one can control. That's pretty damn awesome.
