So illegal immigration is a pretty big topic right now. On the U.S side we have Donald Trump who wants to build a wall between America and Mexico, and crack down super hard on immigration. Meanwhile in Europe there are several countries being quite literally flooded with immigrants. Hungary is building a giant fence on their southern border while Macedonia has officially closed it's borders to additional refugees. It's become a large enough issue that the EU is calling a meeting on the matter.

Suffice to say it's all a hot-button topic. One of my biggest concerns though is how come it seems like very few are moderate on the issue? From what I've observed in several debates about this most people fall in one of two sides:

The Pro-Immigrant side seems to think that any type of border security what so ever is somehow tyrannical, and that anyone who steps foot inside a new country should immediately be granted full recognition and the benefits that come with it.

OR we have the:

Anti-Immigrant side, who many belonging to the group want to shut down borders all together and completely stop immigration. I've even seen a lot of talk about outright jailing or shooting anyone who crosses the line.

In my honest opinion both sides are being ridiculous about it. What's wrong with a moderate border security force that makes sure people follow the proper procedure before entering? I believe anyone should be allowed to enter a new country as long as they fill out the proper paperwork, have a background check, and then go through the citizenship process in good faith.

Those who can't bother themselves to do things legally should be sent back until they decide to come through the right way.

Those are my thoughts, though. Two questions for anyone reading this thread: What's your stance regarding immigration? Why do you think there's a seeming lack of moderates on the matter?

Well it is literally called illegal immigration for a reason. We do need better border security for sure.

The issue is, that IF you let someone in, you cannot deny them the rights that come with it,
there is not realy an acceptable middle ground.

There's a difference between letting someone in, and someone sneaking in while subverting all law and security. If you cross the border without going through the legal way you have broken the law and are by definition a criminal. Criminals must be treated humanely but don't have many rights beyond that.

The border should be well regulated, yes. And if waves of immigrants want in, make it easy, this is a nation that says itself that it wants immigrants. Although Tyrion is a damn insane bastard with his ideas of mass murder and concentration camps.

There is a draft system in the US. If we needed to, we could have a 20 million man army. Which is 2x the size of the current largest standing army, North Korea's army.

If China needed to, it would have a 100 million man army, beat that.

How many aircraft carriers and modern aircraft does China have listed on public sources compared to America? By the time a Sino-American War happened, we'd probably have orbital kinetic rod "missiles" (as portrayed in Call of Duty Ghosts). Do you think China would have more than America the rate their budget is going?
