Volsung? No. Says from SC. Plus I would never join another clan anyway with my alt, unless I could steal Darklords and just boot everyone so they would stop spamming invites, but that is not my style.

Mine is pretty obvious since I am playing 2v2 ladder with both :)

And this item:

"You shall not operate more than one WarLight account in a way that gives you an advantage in a game, tournament or ladder."

Does not really specify what the "advantage" means. Is it effecting ratings of common people? Having greater chance at #1 (with two on there)? Actually playing yourself? What is an advantage?

well having greater chance at #1 and playing yourself are for sure an unfair Advantage. but on the realtime ladder it seems to be different for me cause it's trueskill and if you Play on 2 accounts the same amount both should be at the same Rating.

since i'm not interested in becoming #1 on the RTL and i just wanted to be fair to wazz, who Plays with his high Rating, i used my higher rated account too. otherwise it would be much more unfair. i can't find a Violation of the rules here.

Edit: btw how many Players are using multiple accounts on the ladders you think? i bet many.

playing both accounts at the same time on single player ladders can be considered cheating. it's unfair for other players. please stop that.

I, an alt myself, believe that using them to your advantage would be A: Playing with two of them in a free for all. B: Having one on one team and another on the other team and strategically playing it so one is basically on the other's team without being on the team. Other than that, their aren't too many things alts can do to help each other

Well, if both are on 1v1 ladder, one could stall vs a common opponent or do things like that to effect the other rating. You could also surrender to give common opponent a rating boost and thus yourself. This would be most effective on seasonal ladder.

RT is a bit different because of the rating system, but I just wish we could get official rules that are clear so nobody is accidentally cheating.

Just a quick observation.
MOD, you don't think it's fair to play wazz because his playing with his highest rated account? How is it fair for people to lose against you with your lowest rated account?? I'm quite sure they'd lose a lot less against your highest rated account, do you think that's fair!?

To be honest, i don't think it's the same. Both, MoDs and Wazz ratings are inflated because the ratings were higher that days. You can already be happy with beating desi who got a nowadays high enough 2050 rating.

Edit: saying they would lose a lot less is funny, cause they won't lose a lot anyway. If i would play 30 games on this account i would be on desis rating most probably

So, because both your accounts are highly rated, it's fine because they won't lose a lot anyway? Now that's funny, lol.

Not what i said but i'm done with it. I don't think it's wrong to use an alt as i do. As i said: it doesn't make a big difference if you win or lose against this account or desi. Maybe i'll rejoin the ladder with that account for good again, but i want to have some more practise on some templates first. And desi is perfect for that.

I personally hate alts, not because they could be considered cheating (I don't play coin or ladder games, so it doesn't really effect me) but because it takes away from the multi-PLAYER concept of the game. Sure, everyone has had those bad experiences where your teammate/opponent sucks so badly that it ruins the game. But, it's the camaraderie and communication between players across the globe that makes Warlight fun! A more transparent Warlight is a better Warlight. It'd be nice to actually know your fellow players. The problem is in enforcing a no-alt rule. The only real solution is changing the general attitude towards creating alts (i.e. forum posts like these).

-just my 2 cents :)

You're free to join with an alt whenever you want, but when you say "I don't want to be unfair to Wazz" and deny being unfair to others I just don't think that is correct.

Well others don't have accounts with high ratings in the 2200 region and an alt they could also play with. Hence if he played Wazz with desi it would be "unfair" whereas compared to other players who don't have both it doesn't matter.

Ugh, because wazz has a high rating, it's not fair to him, but for those with a lower (non inflated) rating it is? Explain that logic to me. Wazz's rating will only go down. People with a lower rating tend to increase, so by making them lose a lot more then they should you're actually being more unfair to them than to wazz, whom will lose those points one way or another.

Wazz happily lost 70 points in 4 games in a row today, even though he will never get those points back up to the rating he was on.

Personally i would like all of the high rated accounts to play just enough games to drop them down to their actual rating. Since ones 2200+ it is near impossible to get to their ratings.

Though I have no problem with what mod is doing.

But to be honest does it matter which of the accounts mod plays with? Maybe he personally feels that it is fairer to play against wazz with the account which offers wazz the most points - who are we to judge on what he does?
Buns for szew's competition everyone will need 60+ games played, so it should result in everyone coming down the ranking to where they "should" be.

Hmmm ? I've already explained that it does matter? When the competition ends, will you see Mod playing the rt ladder? The answer is probably no. However maybe a few regulars of the RT ladder will keep playing it, and their rating could be higher but it isn't because for a short period they had to lose their rating to poorly rated alts. (poorly as in, lower rating then their main accounts). So once again I ask you, do you think it's fair?
