Clan League Season 7: Division D1 Summary
Congratulations to Lu Fredd on receiving the only promotion spot in division D1! It was a tough, tough group here; one of the most competitive outside of Group A. Not all clans here are of elite caliber but all displayed great skill and gave it their all for their clans. Everyone should be proud of themselves.
Expectations:
Let's start with expectations. There were a couple predictions posts at the beginning of this thread from players in this division and not. So, the expectations were set and mostly they were wrong.
Each clan result is highlighted in green.
Lu Fredd: above expectations
ILLUMINATI: slightly below expectations
M’Hunters: slightly below expectations
CORP: slightly above expectations
General Chous: no consistent expectations
Hawks: slightly above expectations
Dutch Forever: below expectations
While CORP played the ‘underdog’ status for a while, they performed around or slightly above expectations. This shows that CORP does have quality strategy players in their clan but that CORP needs to stop resorting to spamming forums to disprove a false narrative. Use actions, not words to do so.
It was believed ILLUMINATI▲ or M’Hunters were the clans to win this division but neither proved to be up to the challenge. Both put up decent showings but it was Lu Fredd that blew them out of the water. Lu Fredd was seen as a competent clan but no one predicted them winning. Lu Fredd was a true dark horse.
General Chous had no expectations being a small, quiet clan focused on profile pictures of dogs. Their strategy bona fides were not known outside of decent team skills and they were strong in a tough, tough division. Lastly Hawks managed to eke past Dutch Forever, but both remained also-rans. But Dutch Forever disappointed more than Hawks with some predicting them to do be more of lower middle tier clan then ending up at the bottom of the division.
A Brief Summary of the Competition:
CORP and M’Hunters stormed to early leads with CORP saying this was just the beginning and that OxtheArtist’s prediction of a 2nd place finish was possible. He ended up both right and wrong but only because no one could see how this race would end up. ILLUMINATI▲ faltered at the beginning with few wins and a lackluster win rate, I was worried about the line-up seeing as it was thrown together last minute but it proved to be an anomaly. General Chous was by far the slowest clan but had one of the longest losing streaks. But they were the Turtle in this race.
In all of this Lu Fredd was quietly moving up the clan ranks as CORP’s early rush slowed; Hawks and Dutch Forever, intially part of the bunch-up, faded more and more as Clan League progressed.
It wasn’t until late in the game, around Weeks 9 or 10 that it became clear Lu Fredd’s lead was insurmountable. It was around this time that ILLUMINATI▲ quietly moved up as M’Hunters and CORP slowed. Persistance, for both ILLUMINATI▲ General Chous, was key in Clan League.
The race, perpetually tight, now was a question of which clan would reach fourth place (the cut off for remaining in Group D). CORP was a favourite to hold the position and briefly General Chous was in a position to challenge for it. But ultimately CORP pushed forward and finished in a competitive fourth place (just 5 points behind second place).
The margin of difference between second and fourth place is quite surprising and while none of CORP, M’Hunters or ILLUMINATI▲ were in contention for promotion with Lu Fredd in the end, it is still quite striking a result.
Final Clan Rankings:
General Chous was lucky that AHOL dropped out of clan leading to a chain of events letting them remain in Group D. And lets not re-hash who gets to move into Group C, it was decided that Yin Yang was the clan to be promoted.
Hawks and Dutch Forever didn't do well in this division but how they will rank in Group E next season will be interesting.
Player Commendations:
While researching which players to commend for their records this season I noticed the diffrences in the size of each clan’s line-ups. Most opted for a small lineup with ILLUMINATI▲and CORP having larger lineups. This kind of skews it because the clans with smaller line-ups (I’m looking at M’Hunters and Lu Fredd) have seemingly more impressive players just through sheer volume of games per player.
For each clan there will be a MVP with other players that did well with their records.
- M’Hunters:
fifi (MVP): An impressive (21-3) record, winning or part of the clan team that won 1v1 Turkey, 2v2 Strat ME NL and 3v3 EU WR tournaments.
Other Players: Kroete (9-3), Melethron (6-0)
- Lu Fredd:
Gardo91 (MVP): A strong (19-5) record, winning or part of clan teams that won 2v2 Szeurope and 1v1 Gurioma tournaments
Other Players: Galvorn (18-6), Taji (19-5), Sephiroth (10-2)
- ILLUMINATI▲:

Other Players: The Glorious Koala (9-3), Great Expanse (9-4), Sam Datt (8-4)
- CORP:
mm3100 (MVP): With a strong (12-6) they were a force to be reckoned with in 1v1 by winning the ME WR tournament.
Other Players: Chancho (5-1), OxtheArtist (5-1)
- General Chous:

With this season over and (hopefully) the promotions settled, each clan can look forward to next season. General Chous, ILLUMINATI▲, M’Hunters and CORP wont be getting away from each other haha! But we welcome AWF from D2 as well The Lost Wolves and TheFootBallGuys from C, and good luck you! ;)
Season 8 will be tougher for every clan then Season 7. M’Hunters has said they will ‘try’ next season and then I say, so is everyone else. ILLUMINATI▲ will have a lineup geared towards the templates and CORP will continue to develop their strategy bonafides and show they aren’t a diplo clan. It bet it’ll be tight.
But whether I’ll be doing updates for it next season, hasn’t been decided yet. We’ll see.
