Alright second submission :/. It's a template where you have 0 base income, and picks are limited, so you need to get a bonus first turn, otherwise you lose. You'd have thought that this would lead to stalemates, but it doesn't, as 9x3 picks imply you cannot take over your opponent's picks, and actually forces you to play "risky" to win.

@Widzisz

I don't know how to solve that problem objectively, I'll just hope we won't see plagiarism in this contest. Overall I want the finished product, however if the idea/template is too similar to an already existing one, things might get dicy.

1v1 New York Small (https://www.warlight.net/MultiPlayer?TemplateID=742636) Inspired by the template used in a WGL used a long time ago and from the template used in Andy903 and Dom365's Warlight League...

I made several changes...
Normal Fog, 3 Territory starts with 4 armies each, 5 base income, 7 wastelands of 4 armies, 2 army neutrals, 0% SR, Cyclic...

Game examples:
https://www.warlight.net/MultiPlayer?GameID=9804729 (vs Yussif Hero) this game was a higher income game with less brawling involved....

Switching up the template so that there are only 4 wastelands...

Nack you got a decent template with Macedonia and no starting income but I think a smaller map would be better and distribution changed if possible??? https://www.warlight.net/MultiPlayer?GameID=9809298 didn't seem balanced to me.

Its something I made in 5 minutes :p. Yes, it is a bit too big, how would you change the distribution tho? Maybe the Atlantis map is better.

You can be right that there are too many picks to call it really "strategic" but the rest is fine

Here's my first attempt: https://www.warlight.net/MultiPlayer?TemplateID=744973

It's an attempt at a proof-of-concept that 100% luck WR could theoretically still be usable in a strategic way. I upped all the armies by 10 times, so that should reduce the standard deviation quite a bit. You may get a few odd results, but it's much less likely than if you were playing with the standard income and distribution settings. (10 armies might occasionally fail to take a 1, but 100 armies will almost surely take a 10.)

any chance everyone can post a game link, not a template? It is a pain to view it quick from a template link.

Here are the games that have finished so far from my Pure Luck 1v1 template:
Gameplay is very similar to the standard 1v1, just with a bit more variety. Also, you can pretty much delay as much as you want. I'm thinking of adding in more delay card pieces to reduce the impulse to use delay moves. Instead, you'll have to decide how many delay cards to use or to save for later.

Ok, this is my entry: https://www.warlight.net/MultiPlayer?TemplateID=743082
It is a 1v1 game on the Bermuda map by Clement Attlee. Normal fog, cyclic move order, Random warlords distribution, 3 territories each starting with 4 armies, 7 wastelands of 7 armies, 0% SR, 5 armies base, reinforcement, blockade, order-priority and order-delay cards.
Armies per turn build slowly and games last a little longer than some other 1v1 games. Wastelands are big enough, to deter you from starting in a bonus with one, but small enough to attack later in the game if it gives you an army advantage or strategic advantage.

Games: (I will post more when more finish)

https://www.warlight.net/MultiPlayer?GameID=9828362

The games above show me winning starting in either the center of the map, or starting on one side

I'm really hoping for more templates. I'd be really sad if in the end there are only 2-3 sensible templates that win automatically.

Here's my template - French Brawl

Tournaments:
https://www.warlight.net/MultiPlayer/Tournament?ID=16287 (WGL 110)
https://www.warlight.net/MultiPlayer/Tournament?ID=16268

Some good games:
https://www.warlight.net/MultiPlayer?GameID=9801749
https://www.warlight.net/MultiPlayer?GameID=9792041
https://www.warlight.net/MultiPlayer?GameID=9802157
https://www.warlight.net/MultiPlayer?GameID=9794463

Motivation:
I was interested in making a good brawl template where you have to make each army count. This template encourages optimal use of your armies. Understanding how pick combinations work is an important aspect of strategic play, and will definitely help you do well.

Features:
  • Map of France.

  • Cyclic move order

  • 6 picks per player
There are about 19 warlords to choose from. Some of the 7 bonuses on the map are best avoided.

  • Starts of 3 armies each, base income of 4
All starts have a small number of armies on them, so you need to invest to be able to take territories.

  • Extra income per 2 territories
This feature is to encourage players to be more adventurous. Often, when a player gets ahead, they win games by defending their position. On this template you can get income through bonuses, and the number of territories you own. It adds a completely different dynamic to the game.

  • Light fog
It is really important to understand what's going on, and light fog fits in well

If anyone would like to try this template, feel free to invite me to a game. Any suggestions to improve the template are welcome as well.
