By saying that Scotland isn't a country, then your also saying that England, Wales and Northern Ireland are also not countries. Wales, Scotland and Norther Ireland are countries, just not independent. It's a bit like saying that the USA isn't a country, but North America is*. If your British, you'd understand.

I see the UK as more of a union than a country since it's made of four different countries.

If Northern Ireland isn't a country then Scotland must be shit at football if a quote on quote 'province' can qualify for the euros but Scotland can't.

Scotland is a constituent country of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (being a part of the "Great Britain" part of the UK).
