My point is that North America is made up of many places, just like the United Kingdom of Great Britain.
Your geographical knowledge must be worse because it depends what on you call a 'country'.
Google's definition of a country:
- A nation with its own government, occupying a particular territory.
In this case, Wales, Scotland, England and Northern Ireland are countries; they all self-governing.
- Districts and small settlements outside large urban areas or the capital.
Wales, Scotland, England and Northern Ireland have districts, so they are countries.
Pointless' (a TV quiz show in the UK) definition of a country:
- A sovereign state that is a member of the UN in its own right.
In this case, Wales, Scotland, England and Northern Ireland aren't countries, but the UK is.
