I'm also not at all a fan of this design.
It's cute, maybe, but hard to tell apart and doesn't match the "spirit" (or design) of Warlight.
I'd like to have the option to switch to the old cards (I would). However, I'm sure I'll also get used to them with time, so it's not a terrible thing.
What I find more distracting is that they don't generally fit the themes of Warlight. These days I'm playing a "zombie"-themed game, a game about medieval England, a war set in the Roman Empire, and a "space age" map. Only one of my games actually has anything to do with MODERN WARFARE.
It's not a huge problem; but it's distracting and does not fit well. Before we were allowed to imagine whatever we liked (or not). Now the Commander and this card art forces us to envision our games as modern warfare, and I think that does a disservice to the human imagination.
Like many others, I'd rather have some other game settings to play with.
(Like Deployment Limits:
https://warlight.uservoice.com/forums/77051-warlight-features/suggestions/7328093-deployment-limits-a-tactical-option-esp-for-mul - which is second highest-rated Uservoice not to have received a yeay or nay from Fizzer. Surely it would be a lot easier to implement than something like the Commander?)
