Miezekatze is a German word for cat

In school they taught me it's [der/die/das - can't remember] Katz. But I might be wrong.

Die Katze = cat
Die Mieze = cat
Die Miezekatze = cat

More like:
Die Katze = cat
Die Mieze = sweet cat
Die Miezekatze = very sweet cat

Beh german. Tried to learn it once, and after 3 years I know how to count till twelve.

Germans say the same about French. I have to learn French in school and it's by far my worst subject

Die Katze = Le chat = The cat

You see, French is pretty simple :p

But when there are more than 5 words in a sentence, it's not simple anymore :p

I have lived in Germany for 1,5 year and have same experience as you. Well, I know how to count till 9999, but that is basicly all ^^

I learnt French at school for five years. Learnt definitely more than just counting. :D Even the proper use of the subjonctif and such things. Let some French guy talk to me - I understand no word (Quebec French is easier though). Give me a French text to read. Ummm. Yeah. Maybe.

Still, I prefer the spanish subjuntivo. It's easier to learn, as the whole language is. I learnt that language for only one year and six months. Let some Spanish guy talk to me - goes okay. I can't answer much, but I understand. Even if he is talking in some weird dialect. Give me a Spanish text to read - I understand (only need to look up verb forms now and then to determine what time the text is speaking about).

I learnt Dutch for one year. Let Dutch guys talk to me - mostly no problem. Dutch text - absolutely no problem.

I learnt Danish for half a year. Let Danish guys talk to me - depends. A lot. Danish dialects are pretty awful. :D Sydsleswigdansk is no problem, soenderjysk is okay, too. Apart from that - nope. Give me a danish text - no problem, apart from me grinning the whole time. Danish is a funny language. In case you didn't know. Trying to pronounce some more difficult danish words makes everyone laugh.

So... What is wrong with French?! I should know french almost as well as english. But there are three(!!!) other languages I've been studying for such a little time compared to french (and I was good at french, too!) and I can still communicate way better in those.

Just because I am bored and want attention, I'll chime in here (and I want this thread to overtake Division D in posts). You would think with mandatory French classes from grade 2-9 I would not be such an embarrassment but I am :(

Week 1 SUMMARY:

So the first week is over and its already turned the race on its head for half of the clans competing. This will be a reoccurring post where I trot out my beloved graphs and you fawn over them, shower me with praise and I giggle with delight!





Since this is the first week, there is little to compare right now. But VS and M'Hunters are off in the lead, the clear and early favourites for promotion this season. Both have been strong on the 1v1 templates with few losses so far. It isn't a big surprise their results so far, most predicted those two to promote.

Now onto BIA! The first surprise of the season with a commendable performance so far. I doubt anyone thought BIA would do so well. BIA is an older clan and that they are composed of a core contingent of players that are strong and dependable. This clan is the one to watch where it finishes, because the 5th place prediction seems to be drastically under estimating them.



Now onto the two clans that, ummm, are doing poorer then expected. CORP and Hydra have differing reasons for their performance so far.

CORP has had 4 boot losses on 1v1, 2 by Quicksand on ME SR and 2 by Angry Koala on Treasure Map. Quicksand did get booted, but has been active in games. But Angry Koala has been MIA. They have been booted in both their 3v3 Great Lakes games during picks, and seems likely to get booted in two more Treasure Maps games over the next 2 days. So, this is weighing down CORP which has started off ok. These boots put into question CORP's ability to challenge for promotion simply due to the lowering of their max points.

Hydra on the other hand has simply been underperforming. With a series of losses and few wins, most wins are from boot wins, their effectiveness and strength clearly are questionable long term in this division. So, they aren't getting booted like CORP but can they perform later in the tournament?



Lastly to LEA, they are in last place after winning the first game of the tournament. So, they seem destined to relegate. Hydra is doing poorly, and CORP has boots, but each seem to have more potential for growth later in the tournament in my opinion.

So, if LEA is relegating, we need to clarify the relegations for C this season. It is my understanding that only one clan is relegating from C this season with 2 promoting from D. I don't see two clans relegating from C, I honestly don't. So if LEA is the only clan relegating, the order of BIA, Hydra and CORP isn't quite as important in the end.

But who knows, a clan could drop out again above these clans. As with last season, position is important and all three clans are eyeing 3rd place intensely.

I'm a bit surprised that so many games have ended already.

What do you think of the results MotD?

I feel like BIA have to do well in team games which is where they had major problems last season. They've got some good players in 1v1. Botanator is their strongest player imo.. But he's playing FB which is very different from the usual fare. So you never know..

The rest of the results are not too far off from expectations, although the boots did set CORP back a bit. Playing HHH after last season was quite brave. Even if he wins out from here on, I don't think it was worth it.

Yeah. Only one clan will relegate from C this season. The 3rd spot may be crucial come the end of the season. (Assuming current format.. which itself is a bit uncertain)

Tournament Predictions:

With a bunch of games finished already, I want to do a quick update on the potential tournament winners.

• ME SR: The winner of this tournament is likely between ppface of Hydra and Chromeo of M'Hunters with tartan1314 of BIA having an outside chance. Tartan1314's loss to Chromeo diminishes their chance to win in a potential tiebreaker. Probably the most important game in this tournament will be between Hydra and M'Hunters.
  
• Guiroma: Too soon to tell
  
• Greece: With Green Turtle, a player I thought would do well, out of contention, the race is led by Glamourous of VS. Her win over Robert E. Lee of BIA strengthens her ability to win overall. But the wildcard will be BigMeck, as three clans still need to face them and each player's their ability to beat CORP will determine if they win this tournament. M'Hunters and BIA have a shot here, but need Glamourous to stumble.
  
• Battle Islands: Correct me if I'm wrong but tartan1314 of BIA has already won this tournament. With VS, M'Hunters and CORP having a (3-2) ceiling and BIA beating all three of them, he wins of tiebreakers against all of them. Hydra and LEA are a non-factor at this point. So I want to say 'Congrats BIA!', but I want someone else to confirm it.
  
• French Brawl: Too soon to tell
  
• Treasure map: Ziskonian Republic of M'Hunters is sitting on the podium, waiting for everyone else to finish so he can win this. With a (4-1) record he is by far the most likely tournament winner. The only kink in that plan is if Milly of Hydra wins their last two games against BIA and LEA. In that even, VS, M'Hunters and Hydra are in an unbreakable tie for winning. But Hydra has no room for error, making it less likely then M'Hunters winning.
