And comparing 1v1 games to team games is strongly unfair.

U can make the same thing with "the bests" 2v2, 3v3 (and so on) teams but certainly you cant point ONE PERSON who is the best overall player. Too much factors have influence on it

create an ELO rating to adjust one's rating for every game played . anything less is mere conjecture.

if an ELO rating were implemented, i think guys who have not bothered to play a determined number of certain games should have their rating decreased automatically:

- less than 10 1v1s: -50 (for example)
- less than 10 2v2s: -50
- less than 10 3v3s: -50
- less than 10 FFAs: -20 per 3 FFA, 4 FFA, 5 FFA, 6 FFA
- less than 10 2v2v2s: -50

an overall ELO rating should determine the best overall player, not specialists: different types of games (1v1, 2v2, 3v3, FFAs, etc.) require different strategies, approaches. evaluating the totality of skills/strategies should be the goal.

an ELO would be good for another reason too: it'd separate guys who tend to play weak opponents to make their stats look good from guys who play the best on a regular basis but lose more frequently.

@ x: re-read my initial post. the primary goal of this thread is not what you think it is. this is why i am 'hostile' toward you: i don't like nitpickers who can't read a text to determine its main purpose. the women in my life (wife, co-workers, bosses, etc.) do that enough. i don't want to go to a war site and have grown men nag me too.

those players have played a massive amount of lifetime games and are also well known. what about a player that joined a few months ago with under 300 games played?

Yuanshuai maybe it will work but only if in team games your teammates will be choosen randomly

do you mean your idea? if so, yes, random teammates would be the best way. though that is still only an approximate way to settle it (eg, how can 20-40 such games tell more about you as a player than the 4500 you've already played?). too bad tournaments can't be made with random teammates and then seeing how each individual player does...

are you referring to an ELO rating for team games? if so, it's already being done on pogo.com (for cribbage and other card games): quality of teammates and quality of opponents determine what happens to your rating if you win/lose. beat a better team with lesser teammates: rating goes up more than if you beat a weaker team with stronger teammates. lose to a stronger team with weaker teammates and your rating changes less than if you lose to a weaker team when you have better teammates.

anyway, it all depends on fizzer, and he seems to prefer the auto game's map/settings: eg, his hopscotch map and quad-earth maps; the new ladder is that same template with minor changes to the settings; etc.

And X is right, while I am pretty damn awesome on the ladder settings, I hate the map/settings and am not a top 10 warlight player for that template. I only play it b/c I like to climb ladders, though this gets boring very quick with only 1 boring template to play.

Once you get to the top 20-30, everyone is pretty much equal anyway.

I understand why you put yourself in your own top 10 list though, it's the same reason kids and lonely guys work so strongly on their Man2Hand relations, nobody else is going to do it after all.

In the RR I'm in, all he said was for you to prove yourself. In this thread, he has not responded to what you've said in a while, and the only response he gave was a legitimate resposne to your question: "why he put himself in the top 10 list." as well as for you to prove yourself again. Unless there's some ridiculous hate comments coming from him in the other RR tournament, I don't see a reason for you to continue posting negative comments towards him. It's blatantly rude.

such vitriol. dazedandconfused, you are wrong for 4 reasons:

1. that list of 10 is not what i truly think (as stated above). it is simply a stock list of players who have been #1 (including myself) or high (nuckluck) on both ladders lately + zibik.
2. i only made the list bc i assumed facebook questions require a set of answers to the question posed. so when i discovered that my list was not saved and any respondent can type in their own answer, i said: "even better facebook lets you add whomever you want." (if you can't follow the logic, i'll be more explicit: i prefer allowing others to nominate their own contestants.)
3. i didn't vote for myself. i voted for zibik. he has won most of the 1v1 tournaments i've made lately. and he is an expert at more than 1 map (world and poland).
4. the primary purpose of the thread was stated rather clearly: "i'm just pimpin' [20] page really." it is a gimmick to make the facebook page more interactive.

so the list doesn't matter to me (#1, #2 above) and was not the primary purpose of the original thread (#4 above). if that is not clear enough for you, i can't help you.

This is all silly. Everyone knows that there is one and only one way to determine who is the best: Invasive surgery.

Each player is anesthetized and an incision is made in the abdomen. The pancreas is removed and placed on a scale. Whoever has the heaviest pancreas is declared the best player in warlight and is made king of us all.

I don't understand what's causing the personal attacks towards Yuan (and now also towards myself). You've yet to give a good reason as to why he's not entitled to his opinion, not to mention he did not even vote for himself. I've personally not seen anything even remotely similar to a personal attack from Yuan towards you. He responds to your childish namecalling with legitimate responses, and yet you go back to immaturity every time.

And before you continue attacking me or my playing style, I've never claimed nor do I currently claim to be in the top 10 of players around here.

I also think for anyone who's reading this thread, it's pretty obvious that you're intent on derogatory name-calling, while the rest of us are just answering in the civil manner, so I'd think twice before continuing with the behavior you've shown.
