I prefer the classic death to Belgique instead.

With the Mexico result, we might get Brazil-Germany in the Round of 16. I'm guessing we get a Brazil-Spain final (bold prediction, I know). Would normally go for Germany just 'cause of depth and coaching but their offense isn't as impressive as it was last cup and I can't see them getting past Brazil unless Brazil have a real weak night.

Yeah Brazil doesn't have weak nights during world cups. Oh wait, what was the result when GER and BRA met in semifinals 2014? I forgot...

True, we've shown pretty bad performances lately. But looking back at the past World Cups, European Championships and Confederation Cups we have a tradition making it to semifinals or final (9 out of the last 10 tournaments since 2002). If we qualify for round of 16 and actually face BRA, they might be more scared of us than vice versa considering what happened 4 years ago.

Nobody in Germany seriously thinks that we can do it again. I remember, 2014, everyone was so hyped about the WC, but that's completely different nowadays. Also, there's that Özil/Gündogan thing. I predict Germany will not make it outa the group with 4 points, Sweden having 5 points and Mexico 7 :P

World Champions will be Brazil, but since all top teams performed bad in their first game, I see good chances for Spain and Belgium too.

Don't cast your hopes too much on 'the big nations'. There are far way too many examples of supposed 'top tier' football nations getting beated up by teams with supposedly no experience that have entered a major international competition for the first time (remember Iceland and Costa Rica?)

I do however think that Russia is going to make it to the finals this year, crazy I know but they're doing exceptionally well. And the foe they'll face in the final will be .... Belgium. Obviously im biased but who cares :p

I hope to see Brazil and Germany in the Final with Brazil making its goal in the last minute of the extended time after suffering a penalty (Rated by video arbiter).

LOL I wish Polish media learned from this. Basically every four years (and also on Euro 2012) we have a cycle: insane hype, great expectations, then the first match is actually played and we lose it in a worst possible way, and it's almost a kind of a national tragedy (that;s how strong the reactions from media and the viewers are), the second one is deemed a "match for everything" that will decide if we pass the elimination round, usually played against actually decent team and we obviously lose it.... so the last match is a "match for honor" - which we win - even though we honestly lost all honor in that first one.

Haha yeah, media is full of that stuff here in Germany too. Pretty much the same procedure as you mentioned. But the people are different this time, almost noone having a german flag on his car (I saw 2(!) so far) for example. I remember 2006,2010 and 2014 something like 50% of people had such a flag.
