Update for Week 5 - August 13th to August 21stSorry I am a day or two late with this, but my work schedule was a bit off this weekend. We've had quite a few games finish, and outside of Apprentice we are starting to get an idea of the placement of most these clans.
I'm also down to only a handful of games left to create, so C is going by fast.
Sherlock Holmes, Lord Koros, and Vole defeat schwarz, Star of the East, and cj13
The Wizards vs. New World OrderGAME DELETED DUE TO NON-JOIN
The Wizards are at it again, this time getting another freebie on Biomes of America. That sleeping spell must be very strong.
psykkoman and Ragnar Lothbrok defeat Hergul and Lord Koros
CORP vs. The Wizardshttps://www.warzone.com/MultiPlayer?GameID=16117788CORP easily gets ahead off of picks as Wizards fails to mirror. The effect was devasting counters on Greenland, Brazil, and Southeast Asia. Depite that, they still remain close, as Koros breaks Austrailia onturn 4 and Hergul has 2 quick bonuses to grab after being countered at Greenland. A mistake on turn 4 cost Koros to be elimiated in Brazil. This opens the flood gates for Ragnar to get easy
and safe income. The game was pretty much over on turn 8 after Hergul failed to break a double border on West Russia, as well as psykkoman taking Southeast Asia.
sloppyfatginger and {{NeRo}} defeat Carlos Danger and lineal2012.
Apprentice vs Very Important Weirdoshttps://www.warzone.com/MultiPlayer?GameID=16117777Definitely one of the most interesting set of picks I've ever seen on Final Earth. Quadruple picking a 4 by VIW, with him receiving 2 taps it's an ftb. Carlos' picks are much more traditional while still playing into the strategy. Nero's and sloppy's are unorthodox as well, but definitely make more sense than VIW's by a long shot.
Game was probably over after picks as VIW had all their picks in one area, and would be pestered, by both Nero and sloppy. That being said the ftb made it a wild card, until Carlos booted on turn 1 costing lineal the ftb. From there it is an easy rout.
krunx and Cowboy defeat Lunar Wizard and Dimitis_Wingo
{101st} vs. The Wizardshttps://www.warzone.com/MultiPlayer?GameID=16099732101st goes after a bit of coverage, as three areas are likely going to be brawls. Dimitris triple picks the Uinopo +6 bonus, as Lunar wizard bets on safe easy income with the +3s. The Wizards get off to a great start and even have a good shot at winning as they take the lead, but fail to be aggressive when fighting in Woohiha, which would threaten all of krunx's income. I'm not sure, but it looks as it Dimitris starts going after the Volcano bonus, which realistically he would never get. Soon enough some aggressive play by krunx breaks Dimitris' income. Lunar Wizard plays well, but has to fight against Cowboy (who doesn't have to worry about Dimitris due to his own blockade). This ends up with him losing Kima while being unable to break Palakalei. The game is pretty much over by then.
jimmy defeats psykkoman
{101st} vs. CORPhttps://www.warzone.com/MultiPlayer?GameID=16153357jimmy's picks are a bit clustered but are very quick income with the Chralanka ftb, If he can get into a brawl early it'll be an easy win. psykkoman on the other hand goes for a 2 turn 12, but loses his #3 pick (Chralanka) and goes into Azathia with his 4th. psykkoman gets behind on income quickly and his counter fails to work as planned, but he is still in decent position until turn 6. jimmy is able to get a +4 then takes Cales (6 bonus) in psykkoman's face. In contrast, psykkoman struggle to get income until a turn later. This allows jimmy to get in position to counter psykkoman's income. the next turn, quickly ending the game.
schwarz defeats machine-washed-bliss
New World Order vs. Very Important Weirdoshttps://www.warzone.com/MultiPlayer?GameID=16110320bliss and schwarz have similar ideas, but in different ways. Elis is a crucial pick here, but schwarz options to combo it with Messinia and Sparta. In contrast bliss goes with Ionian Islands and West Central Greece. The real difference maker here is how schwarz deals with the east compared to bliss, putting Caria and Mylyio slightly lower while targeting the area with Aeolis next. schwarz also drops his 7/8 picks as a combo on North Aegean (which he gets and uses to seal his win.) Bliss gets the OP #1, allowing him to get a quick income advantage, but it flips as soon as schwarz takes North Aegean. The next couple turns schwarz flanks bliss and quickly brings his income down to win the game.
sound_of_silence defeats Boiled Dove
Very Important Weridos vs. The Wizardshttps://www.warzone.com/MultiPlayer?GameID=16062648sound gets a counter on a combo of Dove's, and with the help of a bit WR luck is easily able to counter him.
Star of the East defeats sound_of_silence
New World Order vs. Very Important Weirdoshttps://www.warzone.com/MultiPlayer?GameID=16202666Whoops, sound boots at picks. At least he has the Wizards win to cheer him up.
Overview{101st} continues to pull away with 2 more wins this week (7 points). They are knocking on the door of 90% Points Contested with almost a third of their games complete. Can they keep up this momentum?
New World Order continues to be second best. They pick up 2 wins this week (6 points), but have a nonjoin on Biomes, which may cost them big later, and has certainly hurt their shot for first.
CORP has a decent week, with a 2v2 win, but a 1v1 loss as well. They have lost some early matchups vs {101st}, so they will have to work hard for first, but the good news is they are very well in contention for promotion.
The Wizards continue to get lucky as 3 of their 4 wins are boot/nonjoin wins, while being at 6 losses. Can this luck hold or are they destined for the bottom?
Apprentice is slow, luckily for them though, after starting 0-3, they finally get their first win.
Very Important Weirdos finally pick up another win, but have already take a hard hit putting them in last in every category but total points. With 30 max points behind {101st}, first seems like nothing more than a pipe dream.
